Rude. Insulting. Told my wife sha was ugly. That she would end up on welfare. Did not comprehend how to interpret the I-864 information. Denied her visa. Even though our finances are in order. Nuke the place!

I arrived at the Consulate around 7:15am. They checked my name on the list and gave me a password. I went to the 2nd floor where the lady checked my papers and told me to wait be called again. Another lady checked all the documents again and I was asked to wait again. Around 10:30am my number was called on room 3 where the CO intervied me. It was super fast and smooth. He just asked me how we met, for how long we talked before my fiance visit me for the first time and what is my fiance job. Then he wanted to see some pictures and he said we were approved. Fast and easy, the CO was really nice.

Review Topic: K1 Visa

The official was a very pleasant guy, who asked us a few simple questions (mostly directed to Michelle (beneficiary). He asked why she had divorced her ex, some questions about my family and my career, and how long she was in Europe when we met (and how we met). He asked me why I was in Europe, and he asked me about my future career plans (since I currently only have a part time job but expect to get a full time offer soon). He asked where we planned to live when she came to America, and what our parents thought about the relationship.
He then mentioned to us that she needed a birth certificate, and the form that we submitted (which replaces the birth certificate) was not sufficient. He said we can mail in the certificate, and that the VISA was already APPROVED! It would be processed and issued once the BC is received, as long as there is no criminal record found with the biometrics test.
Overall, very fast and nice.

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Our interview was on May 13th. We stayed at the Ibis Santos Dumont hotel. Decent hotel, nice breakfast, but no room service.

We went to have breakfast at 6:30am (time they open) and left the hotel around 6:50am. Walked to the Consulate, pretty close, around 10 minutes.

When we arrived there, there were about 8 people already in line. The girl came by to check the names and they opened the doors at 7:30. There were about 12-15 applicants, no K1 visas, only CR1s and people applying for parents.

We went up to the US citizen part and the girl gave us a sheet of paper to put our contact information. Also she gave a list of documents to be placed in order in case you haven't already sent them to NVC. I only had to give them 2 photos, medical, passport and the number she gave me while checking the names outside.
Then pre-screening. The lady was very professional, no smiles, just a sharp "good morning". There were 2 people doing the pre-scree... read complete review

Review Topic: Direct Consular Filing

This is really long, so to sum it up if you don't want to read it all:
Interview was long, but no problems really. The consul asked us two questions: had my husband ever been to the US? Since the answer was no, how come he speaks English so well. It took 5 minutes. Then he told us we were missing a part of the I-864. They kept the passport, we paid courier fee. We mailed docs a couple weeks later, visa was issued the next day!

Now to a more detailed version....I loved reading the details before our interview so I've included them here, but I know it's long!

We got to the consulate at 7:00 and there were 5 couples in front of us. There were about 10-12 couples in total the day we were there. Every single one was with their significant other (and all were already wearing wedding rings) minus one boy that looked about 18, he was with his father, but he was also wearing a wedding ring. They did let the father enter the consulate, but not the interview r... read complete review
