Our interview was set at 07:40 in the morning, I chose a Hotel near to the Consulate. Months of waiting and review all documents each day until that! I was very nervous and anxious but my fiancé was with me, for sure, I felt more positive. We walked to the wrong side, too many people in the line. A gentle woman asked us for what kind of Visa we are applying, she said the right side, for my surprise It had one more couple and three girls. Ok, we are inside but went lost again, rsrsrrs, in the window the CO called a woman to show us where was the right place, she asked thousands of excuses for him and us. Ok, we went upstairs...just few people's and one guy in the table to see all our documents and put in order, we needed to write our addresses, we had a seat and wait. No more than 15 minutes a guy in the window ask for my name, he asked for some documents, I gave to him but not include the divorce paper in Portuguese, I had just in English. I became nervous and he said: Don't worry, ... read complete review

I will give recommendations first, then I will tell our story and review of how it all went down. Our interview appointment was set for Nov. 18, 2014, at 8:20am.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

1) Unless you are part of the 7am, 7:20am, and 7:40am club, I would not get there any earlier than 7:50am, unless you want to avoid traffic and not pay too much for taxi. Other than that, getting there too early before your appointment time is a waste of time. They basically entered all K-1 applicants in two waves: All the 7,:20, & :40am people at about 7:55am, and all the 8, :20, & :40am people at about 9:20am. We got there at about 7:20am and waited 2 hours just to get in.

2) Don't make the long line. Go to the back of the Consulate at the corner of Rua Santa Luzia and Rua Mexico. As you are coming from Av. Pres. Wilson you will see a huge line which is for Non-immigrant visas only. IF you are making a line with more than 20 people, it is very possible you are on ... read complete review

Just had my interview! and we were approved! after almost a year in this process..
I arrived in Rio the day before..and from the airport went straight to the hotel. I stayed at hotel Ok. honestly...it is just ok...the hallways smell like pee...and it very noisy outside...but the room is clean. I tried going to bed early...but I was too anxious to sleep. I kept waking up every hour. I woke up at 5 got ready and had breakfast at the hotel...and then walked to the consulate..there were 2 lines..and at first I was standing at the tourist visa line..but then I was informed fiance visa is on the other side. So I was waiting in line..I was the second. I left my phone with the people on the street..it's quite safe. and then around 7:20 they let everyone in..our interview was scheduled at 7: 40..I wasn't sure about what time it was cause I had no watch. we all went upstairs to the second floor and the guy with the red shirt asked us to fill in the forms. It's good to have a small cheatin... read complete review

My appointment was at 8:20, so I arrived at the consulate at 7:30. I waited in line with other people for what felt like forever, but we were let in at 8:40. A man (Filipe) had already given us forms to fill out later and asked our names to see if we were on his list. I wasn't for some reason, so he asked for my appointment letter and it was fine, he added me.
Security: my mom was getting a tourist visa right after me, and we both left our phones with the people who keep them in the "booth" on the sidewalk. It seemed pretty safe, everyone does it, and it is only 5 reais.
We all went to this room and were told to sit and wait. Filipe then told us how to fill out the forms (no big deal, pretty fast). I had made a little mistake, so when I was done I asked him if it was ok. He said yes, and if I was done, to go show him everything. That's when I was lucky, because I was the first person of our group to do that, therefore the first person of our group to do everything else. H... read complete review
