Step 1 : Entering the embassy
I had an appointment at 2pm and I arrived in front of the embassy at 1:35. I spoke with the two guards and they told me they couldn’t let me in before 1:45 so I waited until then. When it was time, they asked me for my passport. I gave it to them and they checked if my passport number was on the list. It wasn’t due to the fact I had some complications with the payment online (Basically the website didn’t allow me to pay with my debit card. We tried four different cards but the website wouldn’t accept any of them. Two days before the interview, I called the embassy to let them know the difficulty I was facing and they told me to pay by wire but that it took a few days to be completed and accepted. The consequence of that problem was that my name wasn’t on the most recent list the guards got I think. The payment cleared the morning of the interview though so I had confirmation of the payment.)

Before the interview:
----------------------------
Packet 3 takes a while to come to you by regular mail (about 3 weeks), but you can do the medical before (the addresses and phone numbers found here on visajourney are still the same; the doctors might be different). Make sure to double-check your diphteria vaccination when you go to your regular doctor at some point, because it's likely out of date, and it's cheaper to buy it before (about 2 euros) than it is there (8 or 9 I think).
Packet 3 is an envelope with a checklist on what to do and what to gather. It says to only send it when you've made an appointment with medical (and you have the other documents known here on VJ). Please note that they actually mean to only send it back when you've BEEN to the medical (or it's very close), because the medical results take 2 weeks to come back! They will put the date at 2 weeks after you've sent it back (mostly on Tuesdays and Thursdays). Make a copy of packet 3, because... read complete review

My fiancé and I got to Brussels around 1 PM. We knew they wouldn't let us in that early so we got a coffee somewhere. At 2 PM we made our way there only to be told that my fiancé couldn't come with me. It seemed like the guards didn't exactly know whether he could come in or not so they just told him he couldn't. When I asked the consular officer about that he seemed surprised they didn't let him in. So if you want to bring your fiancé/e, maybe it would be useful to ask in advance.
The interview was straightforward. I went in, got called up to a booth and I handed over all the paperwork I was asked to bring. The woman behind the counter was very kind. After she took all my paperwork, she took my fingerprints and then told me to sit back down and wait until I was called up for my interview. I had to wait around 40 minutes for my interview, which was really short. The consular officer made me swear to tell the truth, he took my fingerprints and then asked me a few... read complete review
