We just completed a DCF at the US Embassy in Brussels, but this is a more general impression based on 15 years of interactions with the embassy, now we're about to leave Belgium for the US.
Without exception, the US embassy in Brussels has been a great support to us over the years. Consular reports of birth and passport renewals were easy and fast.
We had to visit the States asap a few years ago due to a medical emergency of a family member and the embassy helped us with passport renewals in just a few days.
Our family is now relocating to the US due to an urgent job change, the embassy has supported us with a fast DCF.
I can say with confidence that the consul and his staff are very nice and helpful people, a great support to US citizens and their family.

My appointment was on DEC 5th at 2pm.
I showed up about 15 minutes prior to the interview and was somewhat surprised by how many people arrived at the same time (for very various reasons it appears).
The embassy is like a fort, all fenced up, multiple security guards and lines.
I entered through a first room that was very airport security like, then picked a ticket (new immigrant) and walked into the waiting room.
The area looks like a bank with several counters Sith thick windows. I was called at a first window where a very kind lady checked on my civil documents and explained a bunch of stuff (that I already knew) to me about the protocole and obligations. Easy so far...
I was invited to go back in the waiting area (for about 20 minutes) then was called to a different window where I was greeted by a very pleasant and smiling man, apparently the consul since Belgium doesn't have an ambassador since the president hasn't named one yet.<... read complete review

I had an appointment at 2 PM and as allowed inside from 1.45 PM. At the gate they checked for my name, which turned out to be absent on the list. They called inside and I was said I could enter. From there everything went very smoothly. When arriving at the door, I had to wait outside, as they clear one person at a time. When it was my turn, I entered, grabbed my things and entered the waiting room. First they called my number and I had to turn in all the required documents and they scanned my fingerprints. Next, I was asked to sit down and wait a few minutes for the interview. After a 5-10 minutes wait, I had to tell about my fiancee, when I last saw him, some of his personal history, and where we were planning on getting married. When I finished my story, I was told that the visa was approved and that I would receive my passport by courier in 4-7 days.
Within 30 minutes, I was approved and ready to go home. The people were very friendly, from security, to ambassador.
