Review Topic: K1 Visa

I had my interview on Aug 4 (Tuesday) at 2pm. I arrived 30 mins early, but the security already allowed me to enter the building at about 1:40pm. They greeted me with a smile and are very friendly. Inside the waiting room, there were already 3 others waiting including a family and a couple. I waited until my number was shown on the screen (you get the number upon entering the security, pick immigrant for K1 visas). After about 25 mins or so, my number was up and I had to go into one of those windows. The guy asks for all the required documents that you have to produce (passport, police certs., birth cert., I-134 etc.), after which he took my fingerprints (biometrics) and told me to wait again for the interview. After about another 20 mins, they called my number again and I went into a different window. I was greeted by a guy with a smile, he was very friendly. He asked me to raise my right hand, and took an oath. Afterwards, he asked about how me and my fiancé met, when do I intend to... read complete review

Review Topic: K1 Visa

Except for the fact that I didn't get the interview letter the first time they sent it, my overall experience with the consular section is very positive.

It was difficult to find a way to contact the consulate section to inquire about my appointment letter, the receptionist (general phone number) redirected me to a call center which isn't of any help at all. Only after calling a third time the general number, I got their email address. They were very professional and sent another letter which I received in a few business days.

My interview was on January 27 at 2 pm. When I arrived (around 1:45pm) I tried to find the correct entrance, the guards (private company) were very helpful with that. I got inside the fenced area and there I waited in front of a small office door (where they do the security check, very similar to airports). Once they let me in they did the security check and I was allowed to keep my jacket. They kept my bag. Then there is a machine w... read complete review

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

When my interview date for my CR-1 visa came through from the NVC, the date was so far into the future that I decided to see if they could reschedule to an earlier date.
I was instructed to call the "Callcenter" for this. After a lot of back and forth, they rescheduled to about 2 weeks earlier. Yay !

They send you a new email for this (looks different from the P-4 interview letter). I printed it, and presented myself at the embassy, a little before the alotted 2PM timeslot.

Turns out I was NOT on the list. The guards were very friendly there. One of them called some people, and said I had to get a new appointment through the embassy website.

This is wrong however, there is no scheduling possible anymore via the embassy website.

As the schedule was full for the day, I was sent home.
I called the callcenter again, and the lady confirmed I should have been on the list. I then called the embassy operator, who told m... read complete review

Oct 9 & 18: Medical
No appointment (nor interview letter) necessary in Antwerp. Dr. Wildiers does medicals on Thu between 4-6pm, go early (3:30 or so) since you need to get an x-ray at a separate clinic 15 min away by foot and they close at 5pm; results are normally ready by Saturday morning; I paid (cash only) EUR 45 (visit 1) + 35 (xray) + 25 (bloodwork) + 10 (visit 2). You need 3 passport photos. They don't have to be 5cm*5cm (I brought the big ones and he ended up cutting them so they fit...)

Case actually left NVC: Oct 20 (should have asked NVC for t... read complete review

Review Topic: K1 Visa

My interview was scheduled and I arrive there at 1.35pm. At the entrance, a man (seemed to me like Marines but they weren't wearing the uniforms I know, but they had on grey shirts) asked for my appointment later, he checked on his list and then explained to me how to find the entrance. You kinda feel like in the U.S. it's a little USA in Brussels lol.
Once there, I went through the security check, again you show the appointment letter and your passport. They will give you a ticket and keep your bag.

I then entered the embassy and took a ticket ( Immigration ) i waited for around 30min and it was probably 2.10pm when my number showed up on the screen. Again I showed my appointment letter and gave her my passport. She asked me for my birth certificate, police certificate (casier judiciaire), 1 picture, the I-134 (originals) and the attached documents (IRS, Tax Return, Pay Stubs). I went sit back again and after and other 15min I saw her again and went to her wind... read complete review
