I am writing this while my wife is on the phone telling me about the whole experience. We hope sharing this will help other people from Bangladesh bring their loved ones here without glitches and delays:
This is what we did days leading up to the interview. I could not join my wife, so she had to go by herself. It helps if your spouse can speak both english and bangla.
Please check and recheck and double check and triple check all paper work with your spouse if you cannot be there to accompany them to the interview. If you can go with your spouse to the interview, make sure all the paperwork copies are there.
Bring a gazillion photos of you guys together and wedding and all other ceremonies.
Bring all records of phone calls (receipts from you buying phone cards, phone bills, calling logs (you can get them if you ask your phone company by calling them up).
Bring all brithday, valentines, anniversary, religi... read complete review

uestions he was asked, was pretty much .. how did we meet? how long we've been together?... when was the last time we met in person?, was he divorced? any kids from previous marriage, how did he support his child and how often did he talk to his child? where did his child live? Why did he get a divorce? Then the CO did something completely out of character, by asking him for his ex-wife number as if the divorce decree he obtained and submitted wasn't proof they were divorced. (It was a bitter divorce, if he ask her anything he should be ready for all kinds of lies, I mean stories. I had to put her number on call block and messenger on ignore, like it was my fault they got a divorce. He had seperated from her four years ago and filed for divorce 3 years ago and I've been only knowing him for a little over 2 years now) Anyways, he was asked what did he like about me and my hobbies. He told them I love to read fiction books (this is true) but he couldn't name an author of a book I've read... read complete review

Interview time was at 8 am at US Embassy Dhaka, we arrived at 7 am, and there were about 60 people ahead of us. My friend drove us and offered to stay with his car so my wife can sit until they start letting people in. But the security was very tight and he could not park his car anywhere near the building. Unless you are on the line to get in, you can't even stand across the street from the building. The guards actually use megaphones to at yell at any loiterers. This was really retarded as many had family waiting for them, but they had to be 2 blocks away at least. Anyway, I told my friend he should just leave and my wife and I took our place in line. I was somewhat concerned regarding my wife's health. She had jaundice for 5 days, and her eyes were a little yellowish. Although she passed her medical back in April, I was very afraid that the CO may suspect Hep B and ask her to retake the medical if she sees my wife's yellowness. Another 1-2 months delay was the last thing we needed. ... read complete review

My wife's visa interview was scheduled on 2nd june 2006 at 8 am. she went there with my daughter at 6.30 am. thought she was there almost hour and half early there were 17 people infront of her. but i guess she was lucky, it started raining around 7.30 am so the officer in the embassy informed the security gurad to let the people in first who are very old and with kids. My 3 year old daughter then played a very important part to get infront of the line. Fron 17th she moved to 2nd. Then at 8 am they let them in on to the embassy one by one. I would like to suggest all members to check there local embassy'w web site for the visa interview checklist. what happend then was very sad for some people. according to our local embassy interview checklist all IV applicant must bring additional questionear filled at the time of their interview. my wife told me most of the people did not know about it and people from the embassy were telling them to fill out the form right away. some people then ag... read complete review
