Review Topic: K1 Visa

So today was the big day, the much awaited day, well I had no reason to be stressed or nervous, but as you know after such a long wait, this would be the deciding game point. Well reached at the consulate 15 minutes before the scheduled time, I suggest you should reach their earlier, as sooner you reach the quicker it will be done. Went to the cashier, did the paperwork and all and then waited for the call. In total from the time I entered till the CO call I must have waited for roughly an hour which was good as it helped me calm down. The CO was very friendly, I was expecting someone strict and rude, however he made me feel comfortable, explained how the interview would be structured. He asked few administrative questions followed by relationship based questions. Let me point out here, all K - 1 applicants, provided all your other paperwork is in order etc, the CO is interested in knowing how you met your partner, how the relationship started, how has it been and what are the plans fo... read complete review

Review Topic: Direct Consular Filing

K-2 - FOLLOW TO JOIN INTERVIEW.

I have already filed a review for my interview last year. This review is for my daughter who was a follow to join.

Contacted Sydney Consulate directly to start the follow to join process for my 15 year old daughter. She was not included as a follow to join on our original application, but circumstances changed and she needed to come to live with me in the USA. I have already entered the USA, been married and adjusted my status, but as it was within the 12 month period allowed for follow to join we contact consulate directly and were given instructions for the process.

After all of her paperwork was received by the Sydney Consulate, they issued her with an interview date (which was 3 weeks after completed information was received by them).

She attended the interview with a family member, and he was allowed to go upstairs with her as she is a minor, but he did not attend her interview with her ... read complete review

Review Topic: Other Experience

We mailed in my daughter's DS 230 Part 1 and 2 as well as the final documents one week ago.

We mailed it using Australia Post Platinum Express. Problem is, when tracking it shows that it arrived in Alexandria and it was signed by a T Montoyo.
I called Australia Post to confirm if it reached Sydney and US Consulate but they are unable to tell me!

They assured me that it has arrived at the destination and that Alexandria is a distribution centre. The fact that it was signed confirms that it has been received.

When I sent in my documents for Returning Resident I used TOLL who was able to break down the delivery for me but not Australia Post.

Has anyone had a similiar experience with mail delivery? Feeling out of sorts here because we have a flight back to the US coming up in 7 weeks!

Consulate has been exceptionally efficient with every dealing we've had with them... the interview was no different.

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

My visa interview was scheduled for 31 July (case closed on 1 June). I emailed several times to ask them to reschedule, which was finally done one week before the interview.

The interview was July 10th 2012.

Flew to Sydney from Melbourne the day before as Interview was scheduled for 8am
Arrived at the consulate (with husband and son) at 7:30am
Large food court at the bottom of the building where we had ham and cheese croissants and OJ
Went up to level 10 at 7:30am when the consulate reception opens
(small point to note - if you have small children or a weak bladder, make sure you use the restroom before you go through security - there are no bathrooms in the consulate at all)
Was third in line going through security - have your passports out and ready (they didn't need the interview letter at all)
Proceed through security and leave all bags on level 10
You can only take paperwork and your wallet
Wait... read complete review
