My interview was on January 25th 2021 like many others the general experience was the same.

My issue came with the interviewer they became rude once I had told them my date of birth (they asked) they became fixated on my age (22) questioning if I had parental permission as if that's even remotely relevant to ask an adult? My now-husband and I are the same age.
For whatever reason, it was surprising to the interviewer that neither of us while in our teens could afford to visit each other lol. Generally, a lot of questions were directed towards my age / my parent's feelings about it all after the petition was addressed. I ended up needing to show every bit of proof I took such as 5 years worth of skype call logs, text message conversations tec.

In total the whole process took an hour

My experience with the Sydney consulate was the best part of this whole process. Although I was in the consulate for about and hour and a half, the face to face process took all of about 15 minutes and they had my passport back to me within three business days.

Watching the preparation or lack thereof of some of the other interviewees that morning I cannot emphasize enough the following: check and re-check that you have done everything on the cover sheet - I saw one guy sent away because he hadn't done his police check. ORGANISE your documentation as per the cover sheet and have enough respect for all the work you've put in to this process to have the paperwork CLEAN and contained - one lady showed up with docs in an ALDI bag and guess what? She'd forgotten stuff.

Also because I was coming in to Sydney from QLD I chose to book into the Adina Serviced Apartments - 2mins from the consulate - because after navigating the shit show that is COVID and Australian... read complete review

Much like everyone else, my interview process was smooth and very easy once I could find my way into the office. I did get lost at first due to all the construction and renovation happening to the building, but once I found my way in, it was a very easy step by step process. Everyone was super friendly and I felt like I was in and out within an hour!

From what everyone has mentioned, the day is straight forward from clearing security, leave small belongings only. A two step process after taking your ticket, first being they check your documents and conduct electronic fingerprinting. Second is the actual interview with the officer and officer provides outcome of your application.

The check in process was simple, just follow the officers instructions.
There are 2 parts to the interview. The first part, they will take all your paperwork and fingerprints. The second part, they will ask you a few questions and at the end they usually tell you if it is approved or not.
The officer was great, very conversational.
