The Sydney Consulate seems to work like a well oiled machine. I went the day before to see where it was. Something I'd definitely recommend if you're not familiar with the MLC building.
When entering in level 10 someone asks for your documents with checklist. They go through them and put them in a plastic sleeve to take up to level 59. There was a woman in front of me who clearly was a little all over the place and was told where to go to get photocopies of what she needed.
Next, you go through security. They say not to bring anything with you as they can't store it but that's not true. I left my phone in my hotel room but they stored the bag I had put my documents in and I took my wallet up with me.
When entering level 59 you take a ticket. I was called up straight away and gave my documents to a woman behind a counter. She scrupulously went through everything. Made a few comments that made me nervous and then told me to sit back down an... read complete review

Hi all!
I had my interview for the K1 visa at the Sydney consulate on January 24.
I had been moseying along trying to gather all the documents needed under the impression that when I was granted an interview date, it would not be for weeks and weeks...I think I wound up being notified of my interview date 10 days prior to it! So despite being what I had assumed was diligent in getting organised, I felt totally unprepared. I did not have the originals of any of my fiance's original financial documents or forms, nor his personal documents like birth certificate, and plus I had to schedule the medical, get vaccinations due to my doctor having lost all my childhood records, and was calling Canada in the middle of every night to find out what had happened with my police certificate I believed I required from there (working holiday programs- seemed like a great idea at the time!).
I debated whether to ask for later interview date, but decided ... read complete review

Well let me just start by saying how nervous I was for my interview, but I had nothing to be worried about.
The lobby of the mlc centre is confusing when your head is as full as mine was, I had an appointment for 7:45am, arrived at the mlc centre at 7am ish and checked at the security desk where I was suppose to go. He instructed me to sit back down because it won't open until 7:30am, no worries, I sat down and there was a few other applicants with me.
The security guards are all friendly and it was a simply and smooth process, I checked my documents with the ladies and checked my bag in. Was escorted upstairs and we had to take a number and wait to be called. It's all bulletproof glass and they speaker to you through the microphone but all was good. Biometrics was taken and shortly after that I was called back up to have the "interview" which is just another gentleman behind some glass.
I was asked under oath if all information was correct under my knowledge, a... read complete review

Everything went as expected. The people who experienced issues were those who came unprepared and did not have everything they needed with them. If you are prepared, the visit and interview go smoothly and everyone is professional and respectful.
