From my fiance: "I had to go through security downstairs, it was pretty routine, then got told to sit and wait. Waited 5 minutes before riding elevator up and being directed to the place we were going. Had to grab a ticket and wait until number was called. I was called up, handed over my documents, which got sorted, excess got returned to me, then I sat down again and waited for interview. That took the longest, each desk spent about as much time sorting docs as interviewing people. Interview was pretty quick and painless,. Mostly questions about our relationship, her co-sponsor, and what I'd do in the US when I could work. Then I got told I'd receive my visa within 2 weeks and I left!"

Be prepared for long wait times. I did read a few reviews which advised this but i had to wait for almost 3 hour before my number was called to speak with an immigration officer.
Other then that the process was very painless. The officer asked me 5-6 standard questions (How we met, when we last saw each other, when we are getting married etc) and then sent me on my way. Unfortunately i did not have the correct New Zealand police certificate so I was asked to submit this and once they had it they would approve it as long as there was no issues with it.
I arranged for the correct certificate to be sent in and i received notification about a week after confirming my visa was on its way.

I was beyond nervous heading in and had allowed a few hours to complete everything but it went (suprisingly) smoothly and I was all over and done in about an hour. My only hiccup was they had not yet received my medical results due to delays with Dr Okraglik in Melbourne.
The lady I had was incredibly lovely and I had verbal approval at the end pending my medical results being okay.
I don't recommend the trip up in the elevator if you have a cold though. I still wince remembering how much it hurt when my ears popped. :S

2017-07-14 Received email from NVC notifying of interview on 2017-08-01.
2017-07-19 Medical exam, took about 2.5 hours including chest xray, exam results received by consulate on 2017-07-24. I could have skipped some vaccinations since I had the diseases as a child. However, the test to show immunity would have come back in a few days and if the test did not show immunity, I'd have to to get the vaccinations. Since I was in a hurry, I went ahead with vaccinations. In hindsight, I should have had the medical earlier after NVC case was complete and could have had the extra time to wait for immunity results and such.

Smooth process nothing to worry about as long as you are prepared, the consulate officer we had was a really nice guy. In and out in about 1 hour.
