Just had my interview today (24/09/2019). Most of the reviews seem very accurate. Thought I'd pitch in my experience because everyone else's experience helped me out a lot!
My interview was scheduled for 8:00 am so i arrived approximately at 7:30 am. Getting around the consulate is fairly easy. There's a food court down below, and if you enter the consulate through the food court area, you'll make your way up two sets of escalators. Once you've gone up two sets of escalators, you'll find yourself in a foyer area, with a few tables / couches / seats and a small cafe. I waited here for about five minutes, until I realised that I could go up to level 10 without waiting. To get to level 10, you'll take the set of elevators on the right. Level 10 will appear on the touch pad. From here, you'll follow the signs towards the US Consulate Security checkpoint, where, you guessed it, you'll go through security.
Before you go through the security process, you'll enter... read complete review

Interview at the Sydney Consulate was great. Security checks were very thorough and serious. Once through security, the waiting time to be seen by a Consulate employee was approximately 30 minutes. This is when they check to see if you have all your paperwork, i.e. originals and copies etc. You hand over the paperwork and they ask you to sit down and wait for your number to called. There's no privacy, you can actually hear everyone's story, interview questions and answers. The waiting time from handing over the paperwork to the "interview" was approximately 90 minutes. The interview for me was great for other people not so great. I heard quite a few people being asked to come back or even perhaps being rejected. Like I said, very serious and very thorough process. The waiting is quite nerve wrecking as you can hear everyone else's interview questions and answers. I liked it though, I liked it that it was so formal and thorough.

Had my interview last Friday (16 August). Read a lot of the reviews on here before i went and they were all accurate.
My interview was scheduled for 8:00AM so I arrived at 7:20AM as I had seen in other reviews to get there early to save time. I was informed that the Elevator to get to Level 10 (Security) doesn't open till 7:30AM so if you are going there, you cannot get up earlier than that. I had heard there were no toilets up there, so I went downstairs to the toilets before the lifts opened.
Once it hit 7:30AM, there are these security scanners which the office workers can scan their security card at. A special button pops up for Level 10, so you click that and it tells you which lift to go to. Jump in there and head up. When we arrived, the security was still closed, so we were told to sit down and wait. There was a group of about 10 of us waiting. Now, a few reviews said there were no toilets other than downstairs in the shopping area. This isn't tru... read complete review

Reading others recent reviews was a huge blessing and peace of mind going in to my interview this last week.
i don't want to re-hash what others have already said so i'm only going to try and add what i didn't know from what i read.
my interview was scheduled for 10.30 but after reading others reviews realised it seems to be you're on a list for that day and it works out first come, first served. i walked into the consulate at 8am and walked out approved at 9.30am.
The lifts worked by swipe card/touch screen and security at lobby level informed me they would become available for US consulate interviewees at 8am. so at 8am i approached a touch screen/swipe point and there was a "10 - US Consulate" option.
so that got me in a lift up to 10th floor where i followed the signs to US consulate.
A security officer asked for my for phone and keys and pt them in a zip pouch and handed it back to me.
i then proceeded to the document chec... read complete review

Overall it was a quick and painless experience. The interview was originally scheduled for 29 January and we emailed them beforehand and asked for an earlier date and they were able to schedule us in on 15 January instead. Officer only asked two questions and then we were approved! Booked tickets to fly out three days later.
