We setup the medical appointment with Dr. Grillo three weeks before the Embassy interview. Dr. Grillo was very friendly and allowed me to accompany my fiancee for the simple medical exam and all went well. She had to get three vaccines (Triple bacteriana, triple viral and Varicella) plus an X ray at the Trinidad Hospital a block away. The cost for the vaccines was 97000 pesos (100 dollars at the time). After that we walked to the US Embassy just blocks away and delivered the advance packet containing all the required document copies and passport style photos. The final interview at the US Embassy was the best and easiest part of this long and stressful process. Her appointment had been scheduled for 1:45PM but we got an email from the Embassy a few days before, moving it up to 9:45AM on the same Tuesday. My fiancee and I arrived 20 minutes early, there were long queues for the Tourist visas. We went straight to the guards who directed us to the ladies who work the queues, She announce... read complete review

I had scheduled my appointment at 13.30 hours for k1 and k2 but few days before it they moved it to 9.45 am. I entered the Embassy at 9:40 AM and was out around 11:10. There were a lot of people at the embassy doing tourist visa but I didn't have to wait in line. There were 5 people before me for immigrant visas (and everyone got approved!!!) .
I was called first on window 6 where a lady asked me for our passports , original birth certificates and original divorce decree. They took our fingerprints and tell us to wait to be called again.
The interview was in window 5 which is actually a private separate window in a very small room with door. The consul was very gently and super nice. He asked me:
- who was the petitioner,
- how did we meet,
- if my fiancé speaks Spanish, if I speak English,
- when it was the last time I saw him,
- previous marriages,
- what do we do,
- where does my boyfriend live and with who if... read complete review

The embassy was empty. There was only one person in line. Make sure you bring proof of payment for the fee. It was a longer interview in my case because I had overstayed in the US in the past, but it still didnt take me 30min from the moment I walked in the embassy until I left.

The interview took about 50 minutes. Many questions were asked about the beginning of the relationship. We were asked: How we met? How many trips in total? Which trip was first? Where the petitioner lived? How long had the petitioner been in the US if a naturalized citizen? What does the petitioner do for a living? Who does the petitioner live with? Any relatives of the beneficiary in the US? Where do they live from the petitioner? When was the last time you saw the petitioner?

Finally, the interview went really well, simply, quickly, and easily. I spent about 2 hours there because there was a queue of people. The interview was broken into two steps: first, exhibiting all of the original paperwork and turning in my passports (all of them), and then the actual interview with the consular officer - a young kind man who made it quite pleasant.
Here are a few highlights:
- They did want photographs, letters, or other documentation of our relationship, but they never looked at them.
- They did not want a lease or any documentation of where we intend to live.
- They revoked my tourist visa, held my passport, instructed me to wait one or two weeks, and that they would contact me through email when I could pick up the passport with the new visa.
- My husband was not permitted to enter the building.
