A good experience for the most part. It was disappointing to have to reschedule the interview because of a misunderstanding on the paperwork, but only caused a short delay. They were quick to respond to email inquiries regarding the situation, and provided helpful information. My husband said the interviewer was friendly and there were no problems after the original glitch.

For those of you who are Muslims, please note that even though the USCIS and NVC will approve your petition with only a religious marriage, the Vice Consul in Algiers will send your case back for review and ask for a civil marriage license. There is a breakdown in the understanding of the law for legal marriage for Muslims in the USA between the USCIS/NVC and the Algiers Embassy.
Be sure to get a civil license before you file your petition, or like my husband and I, you will find your file in a never ending line of review files 8 months later with no way to expedite it.
Good luck! Be smart.

My fiancé was told to arrive at the embassy at 1:30pm. He said that he gave his Birth Certificate, letter of non-marriage, police certificate, and I-134 to a gentleman at window 2. He then was asked to proceed to window 8 to pay the $100 visa fee and his fingerprints were taken. Finally, he was asked to go to window 5 where he was given a very brief interview by an American woman. He said that the interview process took roughly 10 minutes. He was asked what he plans to do in America and the interviewer also asked to see some photographs of us together. The interview was in french and he said that the woman was very friendly. It has been a pleasure working witht the Algiers embassy. The people who work there have been very friendly and helpful to us.
