  1. Hello there,

I am on a K1 visa, waiting approval of my AoS. I am currently doing some applications for interviews and one of the questions is this:

Are you a US Citizen or National, Permanent Resident, Refugee, asylee, Application for Legalization or Amnesty? (Yes/No)

I am wondering if AOS is considered an application for legalization.

    Thanks!

  2. Maybe I am too cynical, but is anyone else suspicious of these posts saying that they got their NOA2 within a couple weeks of sending off their applications? Some of these posts come from people who have just signed up to the forum within a few days of their post. I wonder if 1) they just got their NOA1 and don't know the difference between that and the NOA2 or 2) they're just bored and messing with people here. It is the internet after all...it's possible they're trolls.

Or just as the topic says, they received their NOA's very quickly :P When do you usually make an account? It is usually when you want to partake in posting. So people create their account usually about their NOA1 and in 3-4 weeks they are posting they received their NOA2. I am one of them. The people who did receive their NOAs quick did nothing special, they are from all countries and there is no pattern. If you look at past posts, this thread comes up every 3-4 months. Maybe they're trying to fudge statistics by pushing out some earlier? It's all just speculation and we'll never truly find out.

I do feel sorry for those who do have to wait, especially for the ones who have to wait longer than the "approximate" waiting time even without RFEs. Best of luck with speedy approvals.

  3. It doesn't work that way. If you use NEXUS, your entry is based on the program. You have to go through a regular line and get entered into their system on the visa. Sorry, but you're going to have to wait in line. Just show up to the airport earlier.

I used my Nexus on POE perfectly fine. Just told them I was activating a K1 and importing my vehicle and they brought me inside. Inside, there was a Nexus lineup as well...which included just me!

  4. Sadly I do not know if it'll arrive before then, but here is hoping. That gives them 6 business days if you include Saturday for shipping. Congratulations nonetheless.

So Jaime and I got married on the 21st, went really well. We're going to send the AoS paperwork after her schooling today. I really don't like not having cheques/debit/credit but that only needs to wait til Monday. I POE'd on the 19th and that went well for the most part. I had my bestman in the car and they didn't ask a question about him. It took about an hour to get through the line then only 5 minutes for k1 paperwork. The only issue, and it's an annoying one, is that the lady who did it (she was the third officer I got, the first 2 didn't know how to do a k1) said I couldn't import my car and that it would have to wait until the greencard. My insurance ends on the 15th so I think I'ma call first then head up Monday to find someone who knows a bit more.

For the AOS paperwork, I filed with a joint sponsor and had an incomplete medical (missing flu shot). I sent in Part 1 of the I-693/my DS2032 and a photocopy of the influenza record. Hopefully no RFEs but we'll play it by ear. At the very least, I am now with her now.

Hope yours go just as well, and if anyone has any questions about the AOS, I may be able to field 'em.

  5. I think I got someone who wasn't entirely sure of the process because when I gave them the compliance letter at POE, she said that I couldn't do that until my status was adjusted. I'm going to try to register it anyways in a couple weeks and see what happens.

  6. Doesn't terribly matter. If you're the female (or a male who is changing their name) and you are changing names, if you are getting married close to the date you'd want your SSN, you may as well wait; otherwise, you'll just have to go back there to change your name on it.

  7. Congrats everyone. That Vancouver interview looks like it should be nice and easy. I am definately going to miss my Kindle during that time though.

This may sound lazy, but I am definately getting tired of filling out forms. How accurate does the I-134 have to be? We're using a cosponsor and I used his Unadjusted Salary from his 1090 which was 206kish. From reading the instructions again, it seems they want the Adjusted income (I'm guessing that is the one that includes bonuses/medcare/etc that comes in at 396k). Should I bother? He clearly is above the poverty line.

    Thanks

  8. I completely disagree. I am pretty surethat the petitioner has financial obligation within that 90-day (while the k1) visa is valid.

Sadly, this is where you're wrong. The I-134 is not a legally binding affidavit so the OP is not responsible for any support. I agree with Vanessa&Tony on this point. Just get them on their way and have it over with.

    Best of Luck

  9. Hello!

Just at the end of the K1 Phase.

Question about the I-864. She doesn't make enough so we're just a cosponsor, who is her Father. Her Father easily earns enough by himself to cover the poverty limits for us; however, he files his taxes jointly with the Mother. Do I need to also do a I-864 for her because of this? Or is this only done when they jointly make over the poverty limit but not by themself.

We're supposed to let USCIS know when we change address. Is this only during active petitions or during until we get our greencard? The address that I wrote that I would be moving to was her parents since we didn't have our place yet; however, since we just got this place, it has a different address (of course). I was thinking about not bugging them about it and just saying I moved from the original address to this one when we got married, using the new address for the AOS paperwork. However, if we have to let them know anyways, I may as well file it now.

Edit: We won't be living with them. they live together though.

  10. Congratulations to everyone that got their recent approvals. We're just finalizing the last parts of the wedding so almost done. We got the lease this week, and grabbed all the utilities - which brings me to a few questions:

Last question and of course, the most boring: When I finally do my POE, I was going to do it on August 19th. I was thinking about taking my Bestman with me in the car and he'll train back. He has no issue going through secondary inspection but will they make a big fuss about it? I don't want to do it if we're supposed to go alone.

  11. Hey guys,

I'm nearing the finish of my K1 journey and so I am starting on the paperwork for my AOS. I am currently looking at my DS3025 and it states that my medical is incomplete due to the fact that I am missing my Influenza shot. I'm not actually missing my Influenza shot but they didn't note the record I had in the package and I didn't check for it since they said I had no issues. My question is should I get my DS3025 transcribed onto an I-693 with the Influenza shot or do you think I could get away with just sending my DS3025 with a copy of my Influenza shot record?

    Steve

  12. Hey guys,

I had some extra time today so I've started finishing up the rest of the paperwork. The interview paperwork was easy but now I'm taking a look at the AOS stuff.

I'm guessing that the A# on my NOA2 will match the one I get on the I94 but I'm holding off for that reason, just to make sure. I see that we do not need to do the I-693 because we received a DS-3025. My question is what does this look like? I received a sheet of paper, a cd and a sealed white envelope from my medical. The sheet of paper shows all my vaccinations and marks which ones were age inappropriate. I am guessing this is it, which is probably in that sealed envelope. I am a little upset though because it says mine is incomplete but I could get a blanket waiver for my Influenza vaccine. It states that because it isn't Fall, it isn't needed; however, when we AOS, it will be Fall. The part that bugs me is I do have my Influenza shot and it was noted in my records (got it a month before interview). So my question is that DS3025 and that means we don't need to do the I-693?
