We met holidaying in Vegas, as we were both staying in the same hotel. We stayed in touch & decided we could give a 'long distance relationship' a go. With both of us traveling to & from the States when vacation time allowed & overcoming many ups & down, we got engaged in December 2010. We'd had a theme from our visits of doing welcome signs in the airport (like if a cab was waiting to collect you) so I turned this around & got my brother to create one which read "Gina, will you marry me?" in an orange & pink colour scheme (our planned wedding colours). As I came through the arrivals door at George Bush International Airport in Houston, I immediately stopped & put my bags down, puzzling Gina. Then unveiling the sign to gasps from the other people waiting, I approached & went down on one knee. Gina's acceptance was met with a round of applause from the crowd. Airports have been polar opposites in terms of emotion (overwhelming joy in arrivals, heartbreak in departures) so this occasion has given us something to always remember, & it gave us the maximum time to be together engaged during my Christmas 2010 visit.
