All of the students involved should be easily identifiable, from the multitude of media resources available. Expel them, arrest them and charge them appropriately. Let them feel real consequences for the privilege of living in a free society, which protects its citizens from racial and political oppression. Oh, sorry, this is in NYC? Fuhgeddaboudit! 😒

Has the Left Finally Blown It?
Pooky replied to TBoneTX's topic in Current Events and Hot Social Topics
No, because there are too many low-information, but allegedly well-educated voters who are demonstrably unable to look past the mainstream media echo chamber at unapproved information sources and apply critical analysis to the larger data baseline to which they would then be exposed. And too many idiots. -
Sorry, but Michiganders can be so dumb. it is far better to manufacture stuff locally than import the finished product from China. Not only that. The benefits to the local community from investment in a project like this weigh in at a ratio right around 7:1, which equates to a boost to the local economy of a little over $16bn. Not a sum to be sniffed at. Plus the jobs being created. Likely good paying jobs. And then there’s the tax revenue down the line, which would be substantial. So they vote out the people intending to bring this sizable economic benefit to the locality, simply because of a China connection. Michiganders. Dumb.

No. Likely same number of Ukrainians dead, Putin would be a stronger thug (if he’s even still alive). The Baltic states would be next in line and, as they are NATO members, a Europe-wide conflict would be more likely. it may sound callous, but keeping the war in Ukraine reduces the likelihood of a wider, and far more devastating, European conflict. In turn, that reduces the chance that China makes a move on Taiwan, thus cornering the market on high-end microchips (hello TSMC). As a sidebar, the continuing war in Ukraine makes it imperative that the Israelis soundly thrash Hamas, with enough force to deter Hezbollah, the Houthis and the Iranians from joining in the conflict. The IDF needs to ensure that US forces are not committed to operations in the region, so as not to stretch their capabities , but keep them at a high state of readiness. Everything is related, in some way or other.

Could Gaza Be the Next Hong Kong?
Pooky replied to TBoneTX's topic in Current Events and Hot Social Topics
No 🙁 Too much hatred, not enough generational sneakiness. -
The trap would be to respond with everything focused on Gaza and the Israeli military seeking revenge in kind for the Hama murder spree. That will not happen. The Israeli military is professional and seeks to eradicate Hamas, not parade their brutality for the world to see. There will be civilian casualties and although these will be tragically regrettable, the world will not get over the fact that Hamas instructed people to stay, basically to become human shields because Hamas are cowards. And the IDF is committing large numbers to the North of Israel, to show Hezbollah that it is prepared for a second front. Hezbollah are a far more dangerous adversary to Israel than Hamas, but, if anything, an easier opponent to fight. I doubt that Iran will risk an attack from the North at this stage. Hamas caught Israel off-guard. Hezbollah will not. If they had attacked at the same time, Israel would have been in trouble. Not now.

And yet the Democrats voted en-bloc to remove Kevin McCarthy from the Speaker’s chair solely to disrupt the GOP control of the House of Representatives. Having just proven to be someone willing to work in a bipartisan manner, they voted to remove him on purely partisan grounds. Did they represent their constituents in doing so? Not in the slightest. Are they receiving any criticism from the media? Are you kidding me? 🤣 In voting to remove McCarthy, the Democrat bloc has made it patently clear they have no intention in working in a bipartisan manner and have no interest in allowing Congress to legislate without them being in absolute control. So, in a fit of spite, they are prepared to let the GOP eventually rally around a Speaker who is less likely to compromise than their predecessor. They, as a whole, are unfit for office.

Perhaps one good thing might come out of this hellish situation. The word “debunked” is being bandied about by numerous pro-Hamas demonstrators, regarding the savagery and barbarism inflicted on the Israeli murder victims, in an effort to excuse their support for these inhuman savages. But the pictures don’t lie. Maybe, just maybe, saying something is “debunked”, in this case as a means to justify a worldview wholly divorced from reality, will no longer carry any weight, without conclusive proof. We can only hope.

I won’t give them that much leeway. In my opinion, this was to be the official response before 2 things became apparent: 1. The number of fatalities was going to rise well beyond the early reports and the realization dawned that this wasn’t a small incursion. 2. There were U.S. citizens among the casualties and possibly among the hostages. Once reality hit, the administration knew that restraint was neither warranted, nor advisable in the current geopolitical landscape. A rapid take-down was ordered, but the internet is forever and the original message was out in the wild.
