  2. Hi Adriana,

Congratulations on your social security number! I have a quick question for you: did you check off the box on the DS-230 to get a social security number? If so, did you tell them that when you went to the social security office, or did you just reapply for a new one since you hadn't yet received one?

Hope all is well with you!

    Best wishes,

    Mary

Ja ja ja I finally got the SSN in the mail

Hi Mary, good to see you again. How is life in the States? Daniel likes it here?

Yes I did check the box on DS-230 a number to be assigned to me but after 4 weeks (they said at the Embassy in 3 weeks I suppose to get my SSN card) in the States I didn't get it so I went to the local Office and I applied for one. All I needed it was my passport with the visa. I told them that I applied for one during my visa process and the lady asked for my application receipt ....and you know they do not give you one at the Embassy. She checked in the system and I was not there so she let me apply for a number. I hope that I will not end up with another SSN, if I do that i go and return the other one ;) .

I let you go now, take care.

    Adriana

Doamne ajuta......sa va traiasca ala micu si sa auzim numai de bine

  4. Hi Jodee,

    1. Yes, a walk-in is the best option if your friend wants the process to be faster, also it is the mail option. I used first option. Her husband must go to the Consulate in Frankfurt, the USC is the one and only one that can file the I-130 petition with USCIS. It is not necessary for the USC to attend the interview, only the USCIS part (filing the I-130 and responding to further evidence the USCIS Frankfurt might request during the process) must be done by the USC.

    2. Filing in person has a big advantage: you skip one step of the process (the packet 3). It means that in the same day filing the I-130 the foreign spouse will file the DS-230 part one and the Consulate can start the administrative process for the immigrant visa. And yes she will receive a list with panel physicians to go for her medical (when I did my medical in Jan 2007 it was 125 euro in Frankfurt).

Good luck to your friend

    Hey Guys,..

    I have a few questions,.

I have a good friend of mine here in Germany, who married a US Military man a few months ago.

They are trying to start the DCF process, and need to know a few things..

    1. Can the Filing of the I130 be done as a walk-in, and does her hubby have to attend to simply file the I-130 in Frankfurt? Or does he attend only the interview, or does he have to attend both?

    2. After the filing, you are obviously sent a checklist with Panel Physicians etc. for medicals correct? Or am I wrong in that?. If it is the case, whats the average cost of the medical??...All vaccinations are up to date!! Unless some list tells her otherwise..

    Ok,..thats really all for now,..

    Any good advice gladly accepted,...

    Thank you

    Jodee
