  1. First of all, all honor and praise to God who I have given all my worries and cares to. He answered prayers and given me many reasons to always trust and believe in only Him, not some CO.

My husbands first interview was on November 8th and received a 221g for call records only. I worked diligently to retrieve those call records and also printed more emails and also a few letters from close friends. I don't know all the details yet, but my husband did say that he was interviewed by a man, I believe the same man that may have interviewed Rominck....either way I thank God that this man saw the sincerity of our marriage and relationship. It has been over a year since my husband and I have been with each other. Our wedding anniversary is next month so everything fell into place, just as God planned it.

Many thanks to Visa Journey, for I would still probably be lost at the starting point. All of you who share your experiences and spread hope and inspiration, I am sure that I am not the only one who is indebted to you. I have gained many friendships, but Rominck you have been a true inspiration and I pray that you and your loved one enjoy many years of happy, joyful, and prosperous years of marriage. To all of you thank you for giving me hope and guidance, for not letting me give up and showing your support. The Embassy in Lagos, it ain't easy, but with God, all things are possible. I will try to get more details from my husband and report them to help later. To all that are still awaiting responses from NVC or the Embassy keep your faith in God, dont' give up!

    Congrats Azuoma.

Man I wish US Embassy, Accra will move as fast as Lagos.

  2. God has done what only he can do. I prayed for God to keep the Asian lady busy on the day of our interview and he did one even better she was out sick or had a personal day off who knows.

I will try to be as detailed as possible to help my follow country people.

Interview was scheduled for 10am but my husband left the house at 6am to beat the Lagos traffic. He got to the embassy at 6.30am, 7am queue was there already. He was like God do I have to wait till 10am before I can go in. God came through again and the security guard made the announcement for 10am interview to join the queue. He did and later opened his medical brown envelope and went through security.

The security guards where cracking jokes that my husband came with a box load of evidence. (This one never travel he dey bring box)

At the 1st window, they took his passport and some other documents. He was asked to sit down within 30mins he was called for the interview proper.

He was interviewed by a blonde American lady.

    Who petitioned for you?

    What is her name?

    Was I married before?

Why did I get a divorce?

    What school did I attend?

    What did I study?

    What do I do?

    When did she travel?

With what visa? The answer to this question made the CO uncomfortable because I’m a USC by birth and she found it strange that I came back to Nigeria to marry. This lead to more serious line of questioning

Why did I attend school in Nigeria? Hubby explained I went to high school in Nigeria and traveled out for college.

How did we meet? We meet through our mutual friend. We attended high school together and she went to university with my husband.

    Why would she introduce you?

When did we start to talk? I was worried about this because I couldn’t get a hold of my 2009 call records due to closed account and I only printed out the call records online from the T-mobile website. Hubby gave her the call records and she looked thru and said it seems we only talk for a few minutes on the phone.

When did we meet for the 1st time? 2009

How long did she stay? 2weeks. The CO was like you got married only after 2weeks of seeing each other. Hubby explained we kept in contact via IM, email, etc

When did you last see her?

How long was that visit? A month. This got the consular more interested why was I able to stay for so long. Hubby explained that we went to honeymoon after wedding, now she wanted to see more pictures. She was particular about one picture that we took in front of Ski-Dubai..that opened up a bunch of questions and more things to verify. Finally she looked at my hubby’s passport and saw the stamp.

    Where do I live?

What is the time difference? He got this wrong he said 5hrs

What about the wedding pictures? She saw our photobook and was amazed that it was actually done in Nigeria. The book was too big to pass through the opening so my husband was flipping through the pages and she would point and ask who was in the picture.

Do I have a copy of the photo book?

Did we do any traditional wedding? Yes my husband brought out another photobook and she did the same thing, point and asked

Are there any pictures before the wedding?

Hubby said a lot of K1 people were denied the moment they said they did introduction. He also said a guy with dreads denied a lot of people.

People applying with K1 where denied simply because they could not answer what are the wedding plans?

To wrap it up hubby said he thought blondes were dumb this CO was not. :D

Overall the interview went smoothly in my hubby’s own words. He was out at 12.30pm.

Thank you all so much. I’m glad I found VJ

    Congratulations Ladydare

  3. I wish to cancel my husbands case. Besides emailing the embassy to let them know not to accept him for an interview if he dares to show up. Do I send a paper letter to the USCIS and NVC? Thanks

I am sorry ghanagal that things did not work out for you. May God be with you.

  4. Hello everybody,

I am filling 2 forms I-130 to petition for my mother and my brother. I am stuck on question D1, which asks "If separate petitions are also submitted for other relatives, give names of each and relationship.". In order to answer this question, in form I-130 for my mother, I would write my brother's name and indicate "brother" for the answer of this question. Also, in form I-130 for my brother, I would write my mother's name and indicate "mother" for the answer of the above question. Please let me know if I do answer right? Thank you and I hope to get your responds soon in order for me to complete the forms.

I think you have answered your question. Good luck

  5. Hello VJ friends!

I want to stop by to announce that my visa has been approved this morning! If you recall from my previous post, my first interview was on December 23rd, 2010. While it went very well as posted previously, I didn't have tax transcripts for 2008-2009 and I was asked to return with those documents on January 12, 2011. I went this morning and nothing was asked again. I just submitted the tax transcripts and the consular officer lifted the approval stamp and stamped "APPROVED" on my documents and handed me a blue visa collection slip to pick up visa on January 21. Praise God!

In all, it was not as stressful as I read on several forums and both consular officers were very nice and professional! I can't wait before I meet with my 23 months son and wife and it's going to be wonderful as well as fantastic! I'm going to get ticket this afternoon!

Thank you all once again for your wonderful contributions to this forum! I pray that y'all have smooth interviews and be approved without any stress! God bless us all!

    Ben,

Congratulations. Can you however please do me a little favor by filling out your timeline? It will help those of us in the pipeline at Accra to set realistic expectations as to when we will see our interviews. Thanks mate. Again congrats and welcome to America.

  6. OH MY GOD AT LONG LAST I GOT SIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am at my mum and dads and they were asleep in bed but I ran up and scared the living daylights out of them shouting guess what guess what!! I am so so happy!!

I called NVC only like an hour ago and asked what was going on and they said it was under review - you must wait 20 business days!! HAHA parrot you got it wrong!!!

How can I sleep now!! I finally get to do the dance with you all :dance::dance::dance:

Thanks all for your help, support, advice and thoughts over the last few weeks. I have really appreciated it!! Love to you all!

    Lilu

  7. On point about the time-line. We have all benefited from the updated time-line of others we must do our part. When we were doing our writing campaign a while back it was disheartening to see the small number of people from Ghana who actually had time-lines up to date or at all. We were hoping to use that data in support of our campaign -but it didn't exist. It helps to get an idea of what is happening with the processes affiliated with the beneficiaries country - you don't need to reveal any personal details when you set up your account on vj and provide a time-line. I am sure we are all in contact with people on vj and we don't even know their first name. Help us all out - update your time-lines!!!

    JustUS,

Thanks for calling attention to the Timeline. I was doing my update in my signature. I forgot that for statistics purposes, I needed to have it done via VJs. Now am done and it is good to see that there are five of us now waiting for our interview.

  8. Hi Guys.... We got our interview on Monday. Pls I will like to know if u are suppose to receive some packets thro the post b4 u go for your medicals, or with the email i have to go for the medicals and wait for the interview date which is on Vals Day..!! haha.

    Thanks.

I also think that your spouse can print that interview letter that was emailed to you and you can send take it to one of the approved panel physicians (Trinity, Shalom and Akai House) and have the medicals done.

    Good luck and congratulations

    Joe,

How long did you wait for you interview date? I got case complete on 30th December.

  10. I am just wondering if the Consulate interview to get the IR-1/CR-1 spouse visa is any different than the interview one would have to get the Fiancee Visa? In effect, with official documentation and photos of the civil wedding in Kenya, affidavits from friends of both of us attesting to the continuing nature of our relationship, and then a long chain of phone records, email records, cell phone text message logs, moneygram receipts, photos and receipts and passport entry and exit stamps from multiple trips to Kenya, it would seem to be to just be a "rubber stamp" kind of interview, but yet I am wary that there will be intimidation, which I hope to minimize by making an appointment and being present for the interview.

Do couples get interviewed standing up at the window, like a lone person does?

    Gene,

For IR or CR-1, you will not need take any documents except maybe the ones you give to your spouse (i.e. phone logs, emails, money transfers, etc., etc. to prove bona fides). The reason for this is because you will turn all of the documents to the NVC and when they have all that they need, they will send it to the embassy and schedule an interview for your spouse. You might also check avd read the wiki about the NVC process.

  11. Miami_Boy bhai, do you know how soon they give the passport back in Bangladesh after a successful interview and VISA approval. I'm reading conflicting times. Some say a day later. Some say few days later. Some say in a week. A few of the "recent interview" profile in VJ says the next day. Hopefully it's a day then I can be relieved.

I just did a year end review of my finance. I'm short on liquid dough now. How am I going to afford at least $3,000 for the trip along. Then more for shopping and eating. Argh! I might have to borrow some cash at obscene rate of interest. :(

    IS,

The things we go through when visiting folks back 'home'.

  12. Think I am losing it! I keep checking the payment portal for SIF every few hours the last two days. My RFE entered the system on 20th Dec - surely it should be my turn already!!

I am trying to work out what date they are up to? I know SIFs arrived on the 4th Jan for those with docs entered on 16th Dec. PLease please put me out of my insanity and give me my SIF tomorrow!

Congrats to all that have got theirs already this month!

    Lilu

    Lilu,

It is on the way. hang in there.

  13. Congratulations Lorri.

I wish you well and I pray that all of us who finished last year will all get their interview dates now and not a year from today. I am sorry but I am bound to say forget the diversity lottery folks and concentrate on those of us who are actually married and are already contributing to this society.

    God's peace and good luck.
