AP can be anything. Ranging from background checks/name/security clearance to home visits to ascertain the validity of the relationship. FYI--ALL applicant cases undergo AP. However, most cases get the required clearance from D.C. in 24 hours or less so we never get to hear about those cases. Others get 'flagged' in the system, for some reason or the other.
