    My wife has her Oath this upcoming Friday June 25 in Dallas. Although we went through the process together, my Oath was about 1 month earlier. We were told that as they are separate applications, they may have different processing times...

    Anyways, just thought I'd add that bit of information in case any other spouses go through this process in future and were wondering.

    Howdy All,

    I had my Oath ceremony yesterday here in Dallas! It was quite exciting and I was more emotional than I had expected (in a good way :-)).

    We are still waiting for my wife's oath letter to arrive, but at least one of us is through the process! As a side note, I also got my passport issued yesterday at the very helpful passport office in Dallas- as I travel to Asia next week.

    Does anyone know if spouses could expect to get the oath at the same time?

    My wife and I both applied back in January, we've had everything done on the same date. Now, however, I've received my Oath Letter, and she still has not heard. It may still come, but, I thought I'd reach out and ask if anyone knows if spouses generally would have their oaths on the same day?

    I actually referred to fingerprinting and FBI background check as one and the same..sorry for any confusion. I do believe it is the background checks that is the holdup.

    Hi SwedeinTexas,

    Did they actually tell you it was specifically a fingerprint check, or did they say "background check?" I suspect the checks they were talking about are FBI Name Checks. Usually the fingerprint check clears within 24-48 hours of when you go for your FP appointment.

    Yes, I was told had the fingerprinting processing been completed we would have been able to take the oath right after the interview. Now we instead need to wait until they've processed the fingerprints, and as long as there are no issues, they will send a letter inviting us to come in for the oath.

    So after the fingerprints regardless they clear or not the USCIS will schedule the interview and will send a oath noticeonce fingerprint is cleared? Is that what you meant Swede

    Hi All,

    My wife and I had our interviews today and all went well...as posted earlier, the FBI are running behind (or actually not prioritizing US citizenship applications) so they have a 3 month backlog apparently (so for awhile now they have not fully processed anyone for their oaths). I was told that it would take awhile before we get our letters inviting us for the oath.

    At the end of the day, we are a bit closer so that's nice!

    Test questions (mix from the two of us):

    * What do we swear allegiance to

    * Ocean on East Coast

    * How many Senators

    * Freedom of Religion

    * What State boarders Canada

    * Selective service

    * Constitution written when

    * What is an amendment

    * What di the Declaration of Independence do

    *What's the Capital of Texas

    The whole process took about 10 minutes. Sucks about not being able to take the oath today...but that's life!
