  1. Thanks Jackie,

When i except to get this letter from the NVC?

we received the NOA2 by Feb the 17th!

In my husband's case it took one month between NA02 and the letter from the consulate. It depends on the volume...some people get them in a couple of weeks, others wait more than a month. In two weeks you can call the NVC for an update, they will let you know if your case is on it's way to the consulate, then after another week I emailed the consulate to ask if his packet had been sent and interview date issued. I know a month seems like a long time...but it flew by.

  2. There was a period of time last year (when my husband interviewed) when they were requiring the I-864 out of Casa, I believe now they are back to the I-134. Use whatever form they request on the interview letter and you should be safe. If you are not sure and don't mind doing an extra form, you could just send both to your fiance just in case.

    Good Luck,

    Jackie

  3. When my husband came the Civil Surgeon did require that he get two of his shots redone for Vericella and MMR and the flu shot before they would transcribe them for his medical (even though he had the MMR and Vericella before leaving Morocco). Luckily, the CS only charged $25 for the transcription and then told us to go to the department of health for the shots...they were much cheaper - $30 for all three. My best advice would be to shop around for the Civil Surgeon in your area that charges the least and do some research for a local department of health. Those same shots would have cost us over $100 at the doctors office.

    Good Luck,

    Jackie

  4. Hi everybody. Sorry to hear about the recent denial. And currently they are requiring the I134 for K1 interviews. We had our interview yesterday...Feb 2 @ 3pm, had a woman interviewer...he was asked to talk about me, my daughter, my dad (and expanding questions along the way). Was told APPROVED!!!! And need to turn in I134, and updated paperwork, then will receive visa!!! So hoping on next week for the visa in hand INSHALLAH!!!! Was called a week before for him to come in, was told "The CO would like to see you, bring your passport & you will be told whatelse is needed when you come in." So stay strong everybody rebuttling/refiling...DON'T GIVE UP!!!!

    Monica :)

Congratulations Monica!!! I am so happy all of your hard work finally paid off and you will be with your sweetheart soon

    Best wishes,

    Jackie

  5. My husband and I kept it nice and simple. We went and got our marriage license a week after he arrived, and a week later went to the local JP by ourselves. That was the way we wanted it (much to the chagrin of the entire family!). Afterwards we went to Subway for lunch (got a few strange looks in there...we were a little overdressed  ) and spent the rest of the day and night just in our own little world.

We are considering having a reception later this year to appease the family, but I wouldn't change our day for anything. It was just what we wanted. :luv:

  6. hello, all!

(hopefully i've posted this in the proper forum--if not, i apologize!)

our 5-month standard K1 wait will be official on January 30th, so we are hoping to hear something within the next couple of weeks.

that being said, i am interested in hearing from those of you who have interviewed at the Embassy in Casablanca, Morocco.

how far in advance was your interview? what was the amount of time between your NOA2 and interview??

also, i'd be sooooo interested in hearing any updated/last minute/random thoughts about experiences in this embassy!

who else is still waiting for their NOA2 with a SO in Morocco?

looking forward to hearing from you all. :)

    Jessica

    Hi Jessica,

First of all Congrats on the NA02! Second to answer your question, when my husband had his K1 interview this past year, it took almost 2 months between the NA02 and the interview date...and trust me you will need all of that time to prepare! I highly suggest checking out the "Hoping Not to be Denied in Casablanca" thread in Mena. It is a big thread, but it contains some great advice for keeping it together through the interview process.

    Good luck!

    Jackie

  7. My husband checked the case status on USCIS's site and came upon this:

    Initial Review

On January 10, 2011, the post office returned the notice we last sent you on this case I765 APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION as undeliverable. This may have serious effects on processing this case. Please call 1-800-375-5283 to update your mailing address for this notice to be re-sent.

Has this happened to anyone else? We've gotten NOA1 for all 3 cases (AOS/EAD/AP) no problem, so I can't for the life of me figure out why it was undeliverable.

    Then for the AOS status:

    Initial Review

On January 12, 2011, we transferred this case I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS to our NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER location for processing and sent you a notice explaining this action. Please follow any instructions provided on the notice. We will notify you by mail when a decision is made. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

Our last status update was something along the lines of the case being forwarded to our local office for processing--I have no idea why it would be sent to the National Benefits Center after that. Any ideas? We haven't even gotten our Biometrics Appointment yet....

This just happened to us last month as well. We had been receiving all of the notices for both the EAD and AOS no problem, then suddenly the EAD said "mail returned as undeliverable" We spent about an hour on the phone with customer service, the week of Christmas, explaining that no we haven't moved, and we have received mail before and after that happened. :bonk: It is very frustrating, finally just this Friday we received and email that the EAD had been moved to "card production" status and a notice was mailed to the address on file. Hopefully that means it is finally cleared. But, it continued to say the "undeliverable mail" in the status until Friday, which was rediculous. I won't believe it's fixed until I see it in the mailbox.

    It's so frustrating...hang in there...

  8. WOW!! Congrats!! )))

    That's so cool! )

So you had RFE for AOS and got EAD?!

The notice I got said that EAD will be issued in 90 days AFTER evidence submitted - I lost my hope to get EAD in the beginning of Feb as my VJ timeline says.

    weird

    but happy for you

Luckily, we got the RFE for the AOS, but they still processed the EAD. I was afraid they wouldn't because for whatever reason the post office sent a piece of mail back as undeliverable on the EAD, so that was a nightmare to try to fix. I figured that we would never see the EAD...then again, I still won't feel too good until it comes in my mailbox

Good luck...hopefully that EAD comes quickly for you!

    Take care

  9. Such a luck!

Just got notification from USCIS that reply on RFE was received on Jan 11 and:

"We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. You should expect to receive a written decision or written update within 60 days of the date we received your response unless fingerprint processing or an interview are standard parts of case processing and have not yet been completed, in which case you can use the processing time information on our website to estimate when this case will be done"

That's exactly what our status says...so now we wait...the bonus is we got an email that his EAD card was sent today...I consider that a partial win :) Hang in there

  10. Congrats on the approval. You as the petitioner will not receive anything but the NAO2. The rest is on your fiance. With my now husband, what I sent him was copies of the entire K1 package (just in case he needed any of the information), a copy of the approval, and my affidavit of support. I also sent him some him some additional "proof of relationship" to take with him to the interview, like email threads, phone records and receipts. Good luck!

    Jackie

  11. This thread keeps making me laugh...

Another thing that my husband does is confuses numbers...anytime he means to say thirty, he says thirteen, forty is fourteen....and then when I say something like that is thirty dollars, he always says...you mean like 3-0? As if I am the one who is confused  I keep trying to correct him...but he still does it all the time!

    Jackie

  12. Thanks Amirah!

This AOS stuff is driving me crazy. The good thing is that the RFE did state it will not slow down his EAD. And I thought that was good news until I looked at the status of his EAD and suddenly our post office returned a piece of mail as undeliverable...so I just had to spend 45 minutes on the phone with USCIS explaining that we have not moved, and that I have received other mail from them before and since...UGH!!! So now I have two government organizations against me...hahaha.

Hopefully yours goes much much smoother!

  13. Ok, so I am looking for some advice on an RFE we got today. It is actually something simple...thank god, but I want to make sure I am not over simplifying!

Long story short, my husband has a son that is not immigrating with him. He is still in Morocco with his ex and will be staying there. On the I-485 form I accidentally checked yes for "Applying with you?" I just hit the wrong box. :bonk:

    So the RFE states:

Supporting documentation indicates that the I-485 applicant has a spouse/children who are derivitive applicants..etc...

The I-130 petitioner sponsor cannot use form I-864EZ (I am assuming because if I was filing for his son too, I would not qualify for the EZ form)

With that in mind...I am thinking we simply need to reprint the I-485 form with the correct box checked, but can I still send in the same I-864EZ form? According to the requirements I should qualify, I make enough money and am the only sponsor. And I just hate the idea of filling out the long form.

I just don't want to get this thing back again for another stupid mistake.

    Thanks in advance!

    Jackie

  14. I love this thread, it is making me smile....my husband says so many things that just make me laugh each day. I know that accent helps too.

Like: instead of "me too" when he agrees with me...its always "so mine" it always melts my heart...

and always on the phone..."have a nice day" no matter what he always says that. I called him to tell him I would be home in five minutes..."ok, have a nice day" its just adorable.

As for the food...he is obsessed with ketchup. He puts it on EVERYTHING, unless we are making Moroccan food...pizza, chicken, eggs...and even on Thanksgiving turkey (on top of the gravy)...gotta love him.

    :)

  15. The waiting is the hardest part....I kept myself busy with work and friends, and just kept myself sane with phone calls, emails and video chats. For me the hardest part was trying not to think about him when everytime I did something fun, holidays or activities, I kept thinking how I wish we could share those together. But, looking back, it all went so quickly and now he is here. The wait made us stronger and definitely now we appreciate every moment together. Good luck...may you have a fast approval. :star:

  16. After finally finding a co-sponsor, my k1 visa petition is about to be filed, but it has been about 90 days since I signed and dated my G-325A and letter of intent... is this an issue?

Do I have to send him recently dated copies so he can file?

    Thanks in advance :)

I would not worry about it...my fiance sent me his G-325A dated in October 2009, but we did not file until January 2010, we had no problems at all. Probably close to 90 days later...I think you should be fine.

    Good Luck!

    Jackie

  17. Thanks Jackie for your reply. I guess when the beneficiary has relatives in the U.S. the Embassy must follow certain guidelines before they make any decision. You know, to think about like this....it's nice to know the Embassy is looking out for the Petitioner and making sure that everything is legit about the person that is coming to the USA.

    Have a great a day.

I can see that...I actually expected something like that when we were put on AP. He has a sister and brother in law in the states, but they never even got a phone call. We just dealt with silence and not knowing for a week. I guess there is no "standard" with these. Thank goodness it worked out well.

Have a great day too! :star:
