I only visited my then fiance, now husband
, once and did not have an issue. Morocco is a bit tougher than most, so one thing that I know actually helped us beyond the one visit was that we did wait several months after my visit before applying for the K1 (visit in May 2009, K1 filed Jan 2010). I know they tend to look harshly on couples that have a quick visit then immediately apply for a visa. I recommend looking at some experiences of others out of Casablanca, it really did help us to be prepared. Good luck to you!

My husband waited about a week in processing..unfortunately there is not set timeline, but hopefully he gets that call quickly! Good luck

Congratulations! Sounds like you had a great experience. Good luck to you
Wise choice to wait until after Ramadan, we did the same...I am a little worried about my husbands first Ramadan here (I am not Muslim either, so it will be difficult to say the least). Good luck with the job hunt too! I do love hearing good stories out of Casa!

I agree with moroccogirlny, it does just depend on how that particular CO views your relationship on the day of your interview. I only visited my husband once and we had no issues, I have seen people with lots of visits get denied. You need to look at any "red-flags" that may cause them to scrutinze your relationship more. If you have to overcome other issues like age or major cultural differences it could be an issue.
Good Luck.

They will question you both. Our interview seemed a little weird in that they never asked to see any supporting documents or pictures. The gentleman just asked us how we met, how we decided to get married, where we live and also all of the questions that were on the application, like are you intending to overthrow the government (i wonder if anyone has ever said yes to that question, lol). Just be comfortable and calm. They are definitely looking alot at body language and overall comfort with each other. Our's was painless...I wish you the same!

Congratulations Lisa! That is wonderful news...I hope you and your hubby are together very very soon.

You probably will need the I-134, I believe that is what they are currently requiring. It will specifically state in the packet your fiance recieves from the consulate. Last year for a while they were requiring the I-864 but I believe they have gone back to the other form. If you are just trying to get them done in advance, I would say send both...it couldn't hurt! As for the fees there is a visa fee of $350 (I am not 100% on the number but its close) on the day of the interview...in addition whatever fee's the doctors charge for the medical.
Good Luck,
Jackie

The most important documents my husband brought were his translated divorce decree and his translated birth certificate. We just used the translations he had from his interview. He did not get new ones and we had no problems. You do not need to resubmit the criminal record clearance for AOS.
Congratulations again!

Hi Daniela,
It was about a month later (after calling USCIS) that it changed to card/document production status. Two weeks after that we got a letter stating that our change of address was processed, then two weeks later we got the refused mail. So, unfortunately it was at least two months from our call to USCIS before we got the EAD. So unfortunately the status changed, but we still waited well over a month before he got the card. Hopefully they process yours faster. It is soooo frustrating to get the "returned" mail straightened out.
Good Luck! Hopefully the CSC processes you quickly and that Green Card comes fast.

We had a similar issue with the I-765 and it took a full month before they updated anything. Even though they also told us it would not cause a delay it did seem to set us behind by at least a month. The worst part is when I finally got the "undeliverable" mail, it was because USCIS made a typo on our address when they entered his I765 they put our house number as 528 instead of 538 so the post office returned it. So frustrating. Depending on how fast the CSC is processing I would not be surprised if you don't receive the greencard before the EAD. Hang in there. It is very frustrating but there is not much you can do.
Good Luck,
Jackie

Congratulations! I remember going through a long week of not knowing too...I definitely don't want to repeat that. I am so happy for you!

When my husband had his interview they asked him the same questions over and over and over, but did not tell him to stop. They did however keep his papers, including his passport and simply said they would call him. They called him one week later and he picked up his visa.
Sounds promising...they would definitely tell him if he outright was denied. I think with my husband they just wanted to comb through everything, just looking for problems, before actually approving.
Good Luck and keep us posted!

Thanks! Yes, they did ask for my driver's license and his..but he doesn't have one and doesn't have a state id yet either. We explained that and he said ok, no big deal. So I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Hi, just wanted to give a quick review of my husband's interview for AOS in Pittsburgh today. We arrived at 9 am for our 9:30 interview. There were several people in the waiting room, but we were seen promptly at 9:30. After we were sworn in the only things the interviewer requested were our passports and driver's licenses. Then he just asked some basic questions about how we met and our experiences so far. Then he went down the list of questions from the I-485 application and when he was done 25 minutes later he looked at my husband and said "Welcome to America" and handed him a book of tips for new immigrants, and advised us about the timeline for ROC. Overall, a really great experience and comfortable interview. We did not even show him one piece of evidence or pictures we brought...he said it's all good, you should have your greencard in 30 days or less. Super simple! Thank goodness...no more USCIS for 21 months. YAY!

can i know how to contact my sengator or congressman please help me ?
Sorry to hear about your denial, that consulate is so tough sometimes. I consider myself and my husband lucky to have gotten through.
As for contacting your senator, your fiance, the petitioner will have to do that. I found mine when I needed to by googling "how do I contact my congressman?" and I just followed links from there based upon my address.
Good luck to you, I hope they can get you another interview.

Tany,
I am so sorry to hear about your denial. My heart goes out to you...I hope you can get them to keep your petition there and give your husband another interview.
It sounds like a rough day for interviews in Casa, I did see something earlier about another denial (for a K1) out of there today.
Best wishes,
Jackie

It doesn't seem you have too many red flags, IMO, but I would just be cautious that they may question how quickly you filed. I only visited my husband once prior to filing for 13 days. But we did wait another 7 months before filing. We had no issues at all. Unfortunately you are dealing with one of the most unpredictable consulates there is. The best thing you can do is just prepare your fiance well. I would bet you should be fine...but I have seen denials on couples I thought were a "guarantee." Good luck and keep us posted!

Sorry to hear about your denial. As Sarah said, there is very little rhyme or reason with the Casablanca consulate. I do believe that in most cases they have decided to approve or deny before you come in. To help, here is the background on my case. My now husband was interviewed by being asked the same questions over and over again, as if they were looking for a slip, but he maintained his cool. The frustrating part for us is when he left, they did not give him an answer but kept his passport. I am sure they just wanted to comb throught his documents looking for a reason to deny. In the end, they called him one week later to pickup his visa. I feel lucky because we got off easy by Casablanca standards. We did have a couple red flags, only one visit and he has a sister and brother-in-law in the states.
Our history:
Met online - 12/2008
My only visit to Morocco - 5/9/2009-5/23 (only 2 weeks)
Filed K1 Visa - 1/2010
Interview - 7/2010
Got my husband here - 10/2010
Age difference - he is 2 years older
We did have a backup plan to get married if we were denied, but luckily that wasn't necessary. In the end we are now suffering through the AOS process and the trials of finding a job. This process is definitely not for the faint of heart, but I can't imagine my life without that crazy man. Don't give up, fight like hell to be together. Good luck.

When my husband had to get his shots, the department of health here did them for $10 each...we just provided the papers from the civil surgeon. It was quick, easy and cheap!

Sorry, I am sure you are on edge! I sent my husband's paperwork global express from the postal service and it took 4 business days. He lived in Casablanca, so luckily it delivered quickly once it was released from customs. The mail service there is terrible, the best you can do is continue to track it online if you can and have him go to the post-office and request it as soon as it is released and arrives. Try not to panic just yet
Good Luck,
Jackie

We did black and white with no issues. I guess you need to see if the black and white are legible. If so, you should be fine.

Thank you so much for sharing your story! It certainly gives me hope and makes me smile to read about your successful marriage. I really enjoyed your insight on the first year. I am in the midst of that first year right now and some days it is so difficult, especially helping him to become more independent...the job hunting...and the learning to drive. But we are so in love and we work through those. There are some days that I sit back and think I must have been crazy for starting this process...but most days I am just so happy we are together. It is funny to look back and think that the actually visa process was the easy part, its the adjustments and compromises that are the truely difficult part.
Thank you again for sharing!
