Yeah it's the waiting for notification of an interview. I guess I will give it another 6 weeks and call them up at that time. Everything seemed to be moving fairly quickly up until this point.

I know this is probably dependent on each office, however I wanted to know what others have had in regards to waiting time from when the notification was sent that the file was in process to schedule an interview to actually receiving the appointment letter? Right now I am at 6 weeks, so I just wondered.

I'm collecting the information for my N-400 application, however I want to make sure I have the documents that are required for filing showing financial history in the last three years.

I was going to order the IRS Tax Return Transcripts, but I wanted to get this application in process and figured I could just wait on IRS Tax Return Transcript and bring them for the interview if they asked. I was planning on submitting the following with my N-400 application in addition to the other items (proof of spouse citizenship, marriage certificate, etc) that are required:

*Tax Returns from 2009, 2010, 2011

*Proof of joint bank account

*Proof of joint mortgage

Yes and yes, and I forgot to add when I went through the residency process everything was the same as it is now and there were not any issues. Really the only reason is employment the other state. I just figured they would be more strict on this application vs the original residency application.

I did some searching here but didn't find much, but I know others have been in this situation. I have been eligible to apply for my US citizenship for awhile now and seriously looking into it. However, one issue. My wife and I own a house in another state from where I work and reside. Of course she lives there and when I'm not at work that is where our life is. We have owned the house for over 6 years and I am usually there most of the time when I am not at my office in another state. Our taxes and everything is joint and really everything is together except for our address (even though both our names are on the mortgage, property taxes, etc). Is this going to be a problem for the N-400 application?

Does anyone know if there is an alternative site for downloading the N-400 form? I've tried to download the N-400 form from the USCIS website a couple of times today on different computers and it always comes back saying it is corrupt. Anyone else tried and have this problem?

Yes, I see where everyone is coming from. I'm just trying to see what my options are if the interview, oath, etc all goes down right before I head out on my vacation. I checked with the State Dept, and it looks like 2-3 weeks for the expetited passport service. I just don't want to be stuck during that time period I leave the country (around a week) without a passport or a green card and have to postpone my trip. Will see what happens, thanks for the input.

I'm planning on putting in my N-400 sometime around mid October to meet my 90 day before 3 year anniversary. The question I have is I have a trip planned out of the country in February and looking at the current processing times I expect I will be complete or near completion of the process at that time. Are there going to be any issues traveling outside of the country and attempting to return if for example I have been granted my citizenship, however don't have a US Passport yet (I expect it would take awhile to get)? I would still have my Canadian passport, although I don't think I would want to be traveling on that if I have been granted citizenship.

I just don't want this to be an issue when the time comes early next year and I don't really want to delay my application either. Any input or suggestions? Hopefully this makes sense.

My application was received on Nov 2nd, chk cashed the enxt day...got no NOA and on Nov 18th ( today) got a letter for my Biometrics appt next month...The letter had a #.

I entered that to track my case and it registered immediately...

Now what i am confused about it..Do I wait or call and ask for an NOA??? is it important..or can I go do Biometrics without it?

So dont worry if you cant track your case. Wait till you get the Biometric letter and Like O & K said that 3 is the main one...Dont stress..hang in there

How long does it take for a case to show up in the USCIS system so it can be tracked onlined? I submitted my paperwork on Oct 28th for my I751 and received my NOA on Nov 2nd. It still does not show up when I try to track it online.

Also, how far apart are the biometrics appt letters being sent out after the NOA have been sent out?

• Two affidavits from friends stating knowledge of our relationship.

• Copy of Joint US Tax Return for years 2007 and 2008.

* Copy of front and back of Permanent Resident Card

• Copy of Bank #1 statements for May, 2008 December 2008, September 2009.

• Copy of Bank #2 statements for April 2009, September 2009

• Copy of mortgage statement for April 2008, August 2009, October 2009.

• Copy of Mortgage Interest Statement (Form 1098) for 2008.

• Copy of joint health insurance card.

• Copy of automobile loan lending note from bank.

• Copy of automobile insurance policy

Should I include a copy of the deed for the house? The home was purchased about a year before we were married, so probably almost two years before I got the original GC approval. I think it was included in the original application two years ago.

I'm getting ready to submit my paperwork this week. Probably by the 29th. The question I have is the form I have completed (I-751) has an expiration date of 10/31/09 on the top of the form. If I send it the 29th they will probably receive it after the 31st. Would the form still be valid or should I wait till after the 31st if a new form is released? Or if it was postmarked before the 31st this would not be an issue?

I'm confused about the filing fee. According to the USCIS instructions the $545 fee ($465+$80) can be combined and submitted in one check made out to US Department of Homeland Security. However, I've come across several posts here on VJ where people are submitting two checks one for the filing fee and one for the biometrics. Since the USCIS instructions stated it can be one check I'm planning on sending one check but just wanted to confirm what others had done.

You can call the IRS for tax transcripts. They are free and can take anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of weeks to arrive. This is generally the preferred document to use when submitting tax info. No W2's are necessary if using official transcripts. They come double sided - and there is no security watermark - so feel free to copy them.

To the OP: Your list looks good and Otto and Karin's suggestions are right on the nose. I just wanted to add that when sending bank statements, you don't need to send every month - just a few a year, so show a history of co-mingling over the life of your 2 yr. green card.

We had efiled and I was not sure about the tax transcripts. I was just going to send copies of what we filed, although it sounds like this is not adequate enough and we need the official IRS tax transcripts. Although I sort of wanted to send all the paperwork out this week, my 90 days before expiry is coming up this week and wanted to get it in early. I guess I can wait a few weeks for the transcripts to arrive.

The only documents I don't think I have included are any receipts, besides pictures from any vacations because I don't really have anything that I can find. Also, some people were getting affidavits is this required? Here on VJ where instructions are provided they do not list any affidavits in the required evidence.

When combining all of these documents how did everyone assemble them? I was thinking of using one of those project portfolio organizers (binder like) and putting a labeled divider in front of each document (I'm not sure if this would be too much) or instead just send the documents all together without any separation.

This question is for anyone. Do you have to send tax returns from 2007 also? We filed from the same address for the 2008 tax year but in 2007 I was working in another state so my address is different. At the time of applying and receiving my conditional green card I was at the current address I reside at.

Okay thanks for everyone's input. I'm going to assemble all the documents and see how I feel after that. I think I have a good handle on everything and will following the documentation posted here on VJ in regards to assembling the application.

I'm getting everything together to jointly apply the I-751 and the required documentation. However, I'm on the fence whether to use an attorney for this process. I used an attorney for the original application two years ago, although I don't know if I need a lawyer for this process. I've looked over the I-751 form and it looks straight forward and I think I can cover any of the evidence that must be submitted with no problem.

Any recommendations? Thanks
