  1. Yes, the border crossing overstay is when someone crossed into USA with a border crossing card (it's a limited visa) and overstayed their time just like they would if they entered with a visa. Border crossing cards are given to Mexicans who live in border states of Mexico and they're only allowed to cross over to a certain limit in the bordering US state... and only for tourist purposes.
  2. I appreciate you taking the time to look up Houston and Charlotte, and clarifying how this works. Now I know that I485's should be looked up according to the local field office in which the interview would take place. Next time I know. Thanks for the clarification.
  3. Yes, Appleblossom, that is correct about the border Crossing permit
  4. I’m sorry. Yes, both petitioners are USC’s. One of the zip codes is 77520 and the other is 28715. I did not know i485’s go by local field offices. Makes total sense. Thanks for educating me on that.
  5. Hey guys. 2 of my friends have i485's (concurrent filing) with Lees Summit MO Both are from July and August 2023. Work permits have been issued; no problem there. But does anyone have any idea when an interview may be scheduled? One case is child-to-parent (visa overstay) and the other case is spousal (border-crossing overstay) Thanks!
  6. Hi. Did you ever get this worked out? Did you use a lawyer? Or did you do it by yourself?
  7. Hey guys. Asking for a friend. She went to her citizenship interview in Charlotte, NC, and a black gentleman, last name Jackson, interviewed her. (I give these details for informational purposes only.) She passed everything except "understanding English". So he said they will re-test her on her English understanding. How does this work? She passed reading, writing, and speaking. (Here's some background information): My friend said that everything went fine, but at the end of the interview, the officer apparently asked her to stay seated until he comes back, but somehow she understood something else, and she started to get up and follow him, and he got upset and "I said stay seated." And she said "I'm sorry, I just got nervous." And then he came back and said "I'm not going to pass you on English understanding." And gave her this paper. (See attached) Anyone ever encounter something like this? What happens on the 2nd go-round? She just appears for some chit-chat with the officer? Thanks.
