  1. well I did give my attorney 60 pics, plane ticket and 340 pages of skype convo.... we keep racking our brain which is only driving us crazy so we just have to wait and see... :bonk:

What you gave and what was submitted may be two different things. Did you ask for copies of everything that was sent? Not that I distrust lawyer. But anyone lawyer worth their fees did not send in 340 pages of skype conversations.

  2. I just filed for my wife's ROC. I submitted the usual stuff, joint bank statements, her being listed on my health benefits from work and a joint lease agreement. I do have her listed on one utility bill and my name on another, both at the same address. As well as credit cards. one in her name and my on another, again both at the same address. My impression here is that this process is to prove we are still married, and still live together. I did not bother with affidavits, or photos. She does not drive so no car insurance or drivers license. I hope what I sent was sufficient. She is now scheduled for a biometrics appointment in 3 weeks. See what happens.

  3. When you file for ROC, you receive a letter extending your GC for one year. That enables you to continue traveling as before. However, some members here have experienced some difficulties with this so the countries you are planning to visit should be researched. Keep in mind ( I do not know where you are in the process) you may be called for a biometrics or an interview, neither of which you want to miss.

  4. You both understand that there is absolutely nothing you can do until you receive an answer. As much as you want to talk, it may be better to keep the conversations to minimum. Less talk, less arguments, less stress. I know the waiting is difficult but what you do with your time is important. You both love each other and you will be together. If it is possible, make believe he is on an extended business trip visiting clients and will not be home for awhile. Change your mindset if you can. Go out with friends, have a nice dinner and some drinks. Go dancing. It will not reduce your love for him, but make the time go by easier. And yeah, studying is a great help.

  5. At each step of this process we need to "prove" something. First how we met and who we say we are, then proof of marriage, then we lived together. There is a progression. With ROC you will need to prove that you have lived together for the past 2 years. Your identities are already in your files. To prove the next point, co-mingled bank accounts, mortgages in both names, same with credit cards, utility bills in both names at the same address ( same with drivers license) is what you will be submitting. Ditch the lawyer.BTW. I believe copies of your husbands passport and GC is required.

  6. If your wife wants to petition using her Belorussian passport, she may need to go to Warsaw. As you said the Minsk US Embassy has very limited functionality. If she waits to get Turkish citizenship, that is a whole different matter. If the need for a Turkish passport is because you plan to live there for a long time, or because that passport may offer fewer travel restrictions, then go for it. But if you plan to live in the US, why would you want this?

  7. . I-693, Medical Examination of Aliens Seeking Adjustment of Status.I-693, Medical Examination of Aliens Seeking Adjustment of Status. If you are a K-1, K-2, K-3 or K-4 visa holder the I-693 instructions state that you are not required to have another medical examination as long as your Form I-485 is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination. If you are missing any shots from your overseas medical a I-693 vaccination transcription is required to be completed by seeing a Civil Surgeon to have certain portions of the I-693 completed and have the Civil Surgeon certify the form (sealing the original in an envelope and giving you a copy).

Your medical records should be in the brown envelope which they will open at the POE. You can try and ask them for a copy.

  8. US Congress passes bill to cancel diversity visa (DV Lottery)

(The Washington Times) – The House voted Friday to cancel the annual diversity visa lottery and give those immigration visas to high-tech foreign-born who earn advanced degrees from American universities, as Republicans powered through their chamber the first major immigration bill since the election.

The 245-139 vote was a test of the GOP’s plan to tackle immigration piecemeal, and while the bill passed, the strong opposition from Democrats suggests that Republicans’ strategy will face difficult hurdles.

And while the chief selling point of the bill was to boost green cards given to science, technology, engineering and technology students, the bigger fight came over Republicans’ plans to cancel the diversity visa lottery, which the GOP argues is rife with fraud.

“We want to put to the head of the line the people who, every single one of them that comes, net creates jobs,” said Rep. Darrell Issa, California Republican, who managed the bill on the House floor.

Democrats, though, objected to making immigration a zero-sum equation, where any new visas would have to come at the expense of existing lines of immigration. “I can’t support a bill that pits immigrant communities against each other,” said Rep. Zoe Lofgren, the ranking Democrat on the House immigration subcommittee.

She also said that it’s not a one-to-one exchange, and immigration would actually decrease under the GOP bill.

While all 55,000 diversity visas are used every year, she said statistics from the National Science Foundation show that there are only about 30,000 students a year who would even qualify.

After Hispanics were credited with helping boost President Obama in this year’s elections, both parties have been eager to find ways to tackle immigration.

Democrats say they want to pass a broad bill that legalizes most illegal immigrants and rewrites the legal immigration system, while House Speaker John A. Boehner has said his chamber will go piece-by-piece.

Both Republicans and Democrats agree more should be done to keep desirable would-be immigrants, such as those earning advanced degrees, here in the U.S. But they disagree over whether to do that as a stand-alone, or what should be coupled with it.

In the case of this week’s bill, it eliminates the diversity visa lottery — a long-time target of some Republicans, who say it invites fraud and could be a national security risk.

The lottery doles out immigration visas based on chance, with the goal of giving those in lesser-represented countries a chance to earn a spot. Every year, millions of would-be immigrants apply for the 55,000 slots.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith, who wrote the legislation, said the visa lottery invites fraud.

In an effort to sweeten the bill for Democrats, he included a provision that would allow legal immigrants to let their family members, who are also seeking green cards, to wait in the U.S. with them, rather than have to wait in their home countries.

  9. According to your timeline you have not had her interview yet. Therefore no visa yet. If this is accurate, you have a few steps to go before she gets here.Once this is finished and she has her visa, then she can come here, you get married in the 90 days as required. You can file for a SSN after about 2 weeks. For this you need to go to the SS office and fill out a very simple form and get your card in the mail a few weeks later. Then you file for her AOS.
