US citizen and UK citizen. We have lived together in US since 1998 (UK citizen tax resident since then). Married in 2000, submitted petition etc. 2002 INS refused application because we didn't attend an interview they didn't notify us about. Congressman's office took it up with no result and no response to our application to re-open the file. Then 9/11 so INS became CIS and lost our files. Congressional districts changed so new Congressman's office has no knowledge and won't get any. Finally here we are again with everything needed at the ready...
