It seems especially in CA I assume elsewhere that in their enthusiasm to go green, lower case as it is not really green you could basically use the grid as your battery, and they had very expensive electricity, so install panels and feed it back to the grid during the day and take full credit at night. So a lot of systems were sold with financing at no cost to the property owner due to financing, installer made money, finance company made lots of money and poor people who could not afford to play subsidized it. Now the cost of the equipment has plummeted, the grid gives you a very small credit and paying the installer and funding it does not add up. Install it yourself or with help, have a battery back up, now that does. Especially if you are paying nearer 50c a Watt not 15c where I am.
