    When I started the process a friend of mine had married and filed for his wife to immigrate to the UK, took him a month and he could have paid to expedite. For some reason I assumed it would be similar to come to the US. Wrong. The fees pay for the process. I would have thought most of it could be automated with the final check done in a few minutes but that is asking a lot, they could just employ more people?

    I see no harm in closing things with USCIS, they will not know unless you tell them, well they will find out if you continue. Usually a good idea to avoid potential misunderstandings

    Hmm Not sure I know many people who would send their GF such large amounts. The I 212 got the deportation could be filed now, the bigger question would be whether she needs a I 601 see a possible misrep charge, but that you will not know until the interview.
