The orthopedic surgeon, who has owned and operated Hostin Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine since 2006, is among 200 defendants named in the suit. However, he is individually accused of getting “kickbacks” for performing surgeries and fraudulently billing insurance company American Transit, which primarily issues insurance for Uber and Lyft drivers as well as taxi companies. The lawsuit, obtained by Entertainment Weekly, alleges that Manny “knowingly provided fraudulent medical and other healthcare services including arthroscopic surgeries to Covered Persons through Hostin Orthopaedics that he purportedly performed.” The suit also claims he fraudulently billed American Transit, which is listed as the plaintiff, “in exchange for kickbacks and/or other compensation which were disguised as dividends or other cash distributions.” Another one bites the dust
