Moving to San Francisco
Boiler replied to fabsfabs's topic in Moving to the US and Your New Life In America
San Francisco in California? If so seems an odd choice with those requirements. -
Then you need to focus on the 10%

UEFA A?, must admit I have no clue how they operate in Canada. Anyway if a Uni is offering you a job then they will sort out the visa, a job without a visa is meaningless. The other people to ask is your Agent. The guys I have met have been working for soccer camps, one stayed, found a USC to marry.

DENVER — The ongoing migrant crisis is estimated to cost the City of Denver $180 million in 2024, Denver Mayor Mike Johnston said. Johnston announced that updated number during the weekly mayor-council meeting Tuesday evening, adding that the $180 million figure represents about 10%-15% of the entire general fund budget for the year. Last week, he estimated the cost to be around $160 million. https://www.denver7.com/news/local-news/migrant-crisis-to-cost-denver-at-least-180-million-in-2024 Top news item, 5 minutes. Wonder if Denver will get a clue.

I am in Colorado and it is mainly a summer gig. If you are looking for something more permanent then best to ask the University what they propose. What are your qualifications?

There is always a risk, they might wonder how you are able to visit for so long, what you do.

Pretty simple for most people, this is after all a DIY site. We have a mega thread about visiting when a case is in process, very rare for normal visits to cause a problem. I visited a few times when waiting. The problem cases I see is where people are looking to immigrate on a tourist visa, have a history of very long visits or some other specific problem.

I thought this deserved its on thread, and it is from a very Progressive source but sort of explains a lot of the issues. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/jan/01/france-detained-plane-nicaragua-us-migrants-crisis Quite fascinating the sheer number of persons involved, this is big business and they charge.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/dec/19/trump-colorado-presidential-ballot-disqualified-14th-amendment In a historic decision, the justices ordered that he be removed from the state’s presidential primary ballot, after determining that he engaged in insurrection on 6 January 2021. The ruling sets up a likely showdown in the nation’s highest court to settle whether the January 6 attack on the Capitol amounted to an insurrection, and whether Trump’s involvement disqualifies him from running for office. The 4-3 decision by the Colorado supreme court marks the first time a presidential candidate has been deemed unqualified for office under a rarely used provision that bars insurrectionists from holding office. “A majority of the court holds that Trump is disqualified from holding the office of president under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment,” the court, whose justices were all appointed by Democratic governors, wrote in its ruling. Trump has vowed to appeal to the US supreme court, his campaign said. “We have full confidence that the US supreme court will quickly rule in our favor and finally put an end to these un-American lawsuits,” said Steven Cheung, a Trump campaign spokesperson. These are the same people who keep on going on about defending Democracy. You must admit it is hilarious. Amusingly using such a broad brush interpretation I can see Old Joe having the same issues. Where does it stop? All the Dem states ban Trump and all the Repub States ban Old Joe?

https://www.britishcornershop.co.uk/?i=336546 It is that time of year and I have been here long enough to let most things go, obviously not HP sauce and the odd jar of Branston, but somehow I am more inclined to stock up now, Christmas Pudding, Mince Pies etc, and some decent chocolate of course. Now the prices make me wince, probably because I am remembering prices from years ago. So the link is above to the one I use, is there anything other people feel the need to special order?

https://www.cnn.com/2023/06/10/sport/brittney-griner-dallas-airport-harassment/index.html Brittney Griner, the WNBA star who was freed from Russia late last year after being wrongfully detained, was harassed Saturday by a man described as a social media “provocateur” at a Dallas airport. A source familiar with the incident told CNN that around 9:30 am CT, Griner was at the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport traveling with Phoenix Mercury teammates on their way to a game. Griner was confronted by the man who was yelling at her about “the Merchant of Death.” The confrontation got so heated that the man was tackled, and law enforcement was involved, according to the source. CNN has reached out to local law enforcement and the DFW airport about the incident. “The health and well-being of our players and staff are our top priority and we will always take every step within our power to protect player safety,” the statement said. “No one, regardless of identity, should ever fear for their safety. We will be coordinating with the WNBA on next steps,” it continued. Griner’s teammate, Brianna Turner, posted to Twitter on Saturday, saying, “Player safety while traveling should be at the forefront. People following with cameras saying wild remarks is never acceptable. Excessive harassment. Our team nervously huddled in a corner unsure how to move about. We demand better.” --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think I would recognise Bob, but any other member of the WNBA? I thought they would be delighted somebody recognised them.

I had not really thought about this other than being told when checking out at a Supermarket now is the time to enter your Coupons, what Coupons? I would assume they were overcharging up front to pay for the rebate so look for something else.
