  1. I know where I am there is no requirement to be in the US legally, I would ask the College concerned what the deal is, what the cost would be.
  2. A friend of mine started the process about the time I did, he went to India and married a lady who his Mother had found after years of his own failure She got her visa in a month, he could have paid to expedite
  3. Lots of ways to insulate yourself from this risk. UK is easy, well apart from the usual issues with the NHS, the tricky bit is finding a way to pay if you are not resident
  4. I have seen couple who were long distance semi truck operators
  5. It will be some time before she interviews linty of time sort things out. Will of course need a Portuguese Police Cert.
  6. Because they can, same as the UK. For comparison Canada and say Germany much harder to work illegally, get benefits.
  7. I was in Aurora yesterday, lots of snow, and I know people who live there. And this is a real issue. Denver is sort of a Sanctuary City. Not official but. I remember when I came over, I was told to make sure small children wore their seatbelts, duh, anyway I mentioned that there seemed to be large families with children hanging out, in the back of the truck etc, told Police do not waste their time with them but would with me. Also Denver downgrades charges to Agricultural Trespass, seems that does not attract the attention of ICE, what the true numbers are, well none knows. Sadly lots of misinformation out there.
  8. Well the good news is that she does not need a visa to go to France from what I found.
  9. To be an immigrant and out of status, well that would mean you had been a LPR and had it removed, I assume you would then be in Deportation proceedings anyway.
  10. How was she able to legally work there as a tourist? And I have never heard of paying taxes qualifying you for Residency anywhere. I have been to Portugal many times, my Brother was there a few weeks ago. I am by no means an expert on the Portugese system but have a basic understanding. Anyway seems she will be going home to interview.
  11. I have not been down to Denver in my car for a long time, anyway bit the bullet yesterday, ugh, horrible conditions. I forgot that my car shows its displeasure by the Check Engine Light coming on when we go below about 8,000 ft. I need to clean the O2 sensor.
  12. NHS facing ‘crisis of public trust’ as most people fear being failed by A&E services Public concern about NHS is worrying and frightening, says leading emergency doctor after poll revealed https://www.theguardian.com/society/2025/feb/22/three-four-people-uk-fear-failed-ae-services-nhs I always wondered what it would take to reform the NHS, even if it is possible.
  13. I remember Patrick Troughton..... The Tories were I thought as bad as it comes, I was not prepapred for Starmer and hold my coat.
  14. The way around is to use a joint sponsor Mind you with such limited income I would question the practicality of a K1
  15. USCIS do not set the fees. No Civil Surgeon can force someone to use their services.
  16. Most civil surgeons from what I have seen only do the full medical so you need to shop around to find someone who will do just the vaccine. As has been stated many times here best to get everything done before you enter the US
  17. Probably both. Admirals used to serve at sea with Fleets, RN would need a lot of advanced notice to put together one fleet, Falklands Task Force, forget it.
  18. This raises some interesting questions, for those not aware there has not been conscription for a very long time, well before my time and I am old. Just some comments and thoughts. The British Army is at its lowest level for centuries, it has more horses than tanks. Around twice as many. The Navy has around 2 Admirals for each warship. There has to be some interesting stats about the RAF. There will inevitably comments that the border is not defended never mind Ukraine etc. I think I read that 75% of 18 to 25 year olds are medically unfit to serve. I remember in my early years at school we covered Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, I never really understood how it could happen, now I do.
  19. Before you go any further I assume she is shall we say older and with a complicated medical history, can she get Travel Insurance? I do not know the Brazil market but jut for comparison when my Mother who had issues, came over her Travel Insurance for just 2 weeks cost the same as her ticket and was difficult to get, 6 months, well I doubt we could have found any.
  20. Obviously this is not a DIY situation, having said that I am not sure what a Lawyer can do other than delay the inevitable.
