  3. Denver nears its breaking point as migrants and the cold pile in https://www.cnn.com/2024/01/31/us/denver-migrants-crisis/index.html I was in Denver last week and saw no signs of anything breaking. Someone I know stayed down there for a function a couple of seeks back and had no trouble booking accomodation.
  4. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell welcomes the ‘Taylor Swift Effect’ with open arms https://www.cnn.com/2024/02/06/sport/taylor-swift-roger-goodell-nfl-spt-intl/index.html Swift has attended 12 games this season in support of boyfriend Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs, in the process creating legions of new NFL fans. The Chiefs’ victory over the Baltimore Ravens on January 28 drew over 55 million viewers, the most ever for an AFC Championship game, according to CBS Sports. Prior to that, the playoff game between the Chiefs and the Bills was the most-watched divisional playoff game in history with over 50 million viewers, CBS said. When asked about huge recent viewing numbers and the perceived “Taylor Swift effect,” Goodell chuckled.
  5. You can certainly apply for both
  6. Delay in being able to work blows any of these numbers away.
  7. Ian is the last of the original main cast to pass. I always thought it was a West Ham scarf, but apparently Villa.
  8. It is interesting that the US for example was not shy to get rid of senior officers when needed during WW2, Patton is an obvious example there are many others. I remember watching a discussion on how things had changed, now the US has not fought a war of consequence but the argument is that they would have done a lot better if they had followed prior practice. Certainly back then it was not a career killer, Patton again as an example. In my mind it makes a lot of sense.
  9. The tax situation would have killed it never mind the dodgy marriage situation.
  10. I do not see how he could have been approved. Did he use a Lawyer?
  11. Which TN category do you think you qualify for?
  12. When I used to visit pre ESTA you filled in a I 94 on the plane and presented it with the Customs form at the PoE. ESTA replaced that, ESTA gets you on the plane and that is it, once you get to the POE then that bit is done, they no longer have the form to read and they admit you or not under the VWP.
  13. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/68200774 MetLife Stadium in New Jersey will host the 2026 World Cup final on 19 July, while Azteca Stadium in Mexico City will stage the opening group game on 11 June. Mexico is one of three countries co-hosting the expanded 48-team tournament along with USA and Canada which will last a record 39 days. They have hosted two World Cups in 1970 and 1986, while the US hosted in 1994. Canada are first-time hosts and their opening game is in Toronto on 12 June. The United States will play their opening match at So-Fi Stadium in Los Angeles also on 12 June The Azteca was the venue for Argentina striker Diego Maradona's famous 'Hand of God' goal in the 2-1 win against England in the 1986 quarter-finals and has a capacity of 83,000.
  14. https://www.9news.com/article/news/entertainment-news/will-taylor-swift-be-at-super-bowl/507-feb10816-c571-4357-9828-0d2d977af56a The only thing that endangers Swift being at Allegiant Stadium when the Chiefs face the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl on Feb. 11 is her “Eras Tour” schedule. She has concerts set for Tokyo on Friday, Feb. 9 and Saturday, Feb. 10, but the time difference would allow her to be on hand for the game. As for the travel plans of her Kansas City-based fans: American Airlines added a flight from Kansas City to Las Vegas on Feb. 10, the day before the Super Bowl, at 12:30 p.m. local time — flight 1989 for Swift’s birth year and one of her albums. After the game, flight 87 — Kelce’s jersey number — leaves Las Vegas for Kansas City at 12:20 a.m. local time on Feb. 12.
  15. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/dec/19/trump-colorado-presidential-ballot-disqualified-14th-amendment In a historic decision, the justices ordered that he be removed from the state’s presidential primary ballot, after determining that he engaged in insurrection on 6 January 2021. The ruling sets up a likely showdown in the nation’s highest court to settle whether the January 6 attack on the Capitol amounted to an insurrection, and whether Trump’s involvement disqualifies him from running for office. The 4-3 decision by the Colorado supreme court marks the first time a presidential candidate has been deemed unqualified for office under a rarely used provision that bars insurrectionists from holding office. “A majority of the court holds that Trump is disqualified from holding the office of president under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment,” the court, whose justices were all appointed by Democratic governors, wrote in its ruling. Trump has vowed to appeal to the US supreme court, his campaign said. “We have full confidence that the US supreme court will quickly rule in our favor and finally put an end to these un-American lawsuits,” said Steven Cheung, a Trump campaign spokesperson. These are the same people who keep on going on about defending Democracy. You must admit it is hilarious. Amusingly using such a broad brush interpretation I can see Old Joe having the same issues. Where does it stop? All the Dem states ban Trump and all the Repub States ban Old Joe?

  19. https://www.cnn.com/2023/06/10/sport/brittney-griner-dallas-airport-harassment/index.html Brittney Griner, the WNBA star who was freed from Russia late last year after being wrongfully detained, was harassed Saturday by a man described as a social media “provocateur” at a Dallas airport. A source familiar with the incident told CNN that around 9:30 am CT, Griner was at the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport traveling with Phoenix Mercury teammates on their way to a game. Griner was confronted by the man who was yelling at her about “the Merchant of Death.” The confrontation got so heated that the man was tackled, and law enforcement was involved, according to the source. CNN has reached out to local law enforcement and the DFW airport about the incident. “The health and well-being of our players and staff are our top priority and we will always take every step within our power to protect player safety,” the statement said. “No one, regardless of identity, should ever fear for their safety. We will be coordinating with the WNBA on next steps,” it continued. Griner’s teammate, Brianna Turner, posted to Twitter on Saturday, saying, “Player safety while traveling should be at the forefront. People following with cameras saying wild remarks is never acceptable. Excessive harassment. Our team nervously huddled in a corner unsure how to move about. We demand better.” --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think I would recognise Bob, but any other member of the WNBA? I thought they would be delighted somebody recognised them.
