    It very much depends on the individual situation. I tend to view it as a way of getting them to do their job, get their attention. Now if it is something they are dealing with and not sitting on the back burner somewhere then it is not going to work.

    To be fair your situation is extremely unusual. I would re read the N400 requirements and see if you can make something work for you.

    At least 90 days just to file. I could think of lots of issues so I linked the N400 requirements. I am assuming you do have a job in the US or anywhere to live?

    I would not worry about losing your Residency, we have seen people gone for years without having an issue on re entry. If all they have is unauthorized presence then a well prepared waiver for I 601a would normally be approved. I am sure the regime did not expect this to actually go through but were looking to expand PiP to include everyone not just Military.
