Another one of those updates that could be posted in half a dozen threads. The real threat to Democracy.
The local history society has been showing a series of lectures that sadly are not available on YT, the last one covered the events in Eastern Europe during WW2, the industrialisation of terror. Now I know enough to know if the Lecturer knows his stuff, he did. I really like his presentation, a retired History lecturer. Cannot remember the Uni involved. Anyway there was a QandA on the presentation and a discussion at the showing. So someone asked the obvious question, could it happen here, and basically he was of the opinion to the same extent no. This must have been filmed about 9 months ago, I picked up some references and there was a mumbled local discussion as the reference s to what was happening on US Campuses was obvious and those was being held in a very progressive area.
So here is an article about ABC and the debate and basically the State Controlled Media. That worries me more than anything.

“You are entitled to your opinion. But you are not entitled to your own facts.”
That famous line from Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan (D-N.Y.) remains a virtual mantra for politicians and pundits. Yet, judging from the presidential debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, we have officially entered the post-truth political era.
ABC News has been widely criticized for the bias of the two moderators Linsey Davis and David Muir. Even liberal outlets acknowledged that the two journalists seemed inclined to “fact check” only Trump. In the meantime, they allowed clearly false statements from Harris go unchallenged.
Three of the unchecked claims are being widely disseminated by supporters, including some in the media. Here are three legal “facts” that are being repeated despite being clearly untrue.
