  1. Just got a text the Jim is on at 4pm MT, wonder if this will get a mention, not sure I can make it. I do remember it being mentioned that Canadians often seem to think they get a pass, maybe Kiwis do as well.
  2. In my mind the logical action would have been to refuser had admission and send her back to Canada, however this seems not possible where the person is not Canadian. Similar ish to the Canadian Lady who sought entry from Mexico on an a TN.
  3. And we do not have the rest of the conversation, What are the chances of being Paroled in - Low What happens if I am not Paroled in - well we know that so would a Lawyer
  4. If she did then there would be no thread. Interesting no description of what this means.
  5. Who knows, maybe they are referencing whatever visa she entered with? Travel Document, what does that mean, current ESTA, Passport? Also begs the question if a child could be released to AN other, would not Child Protection Service have to be involved? Wonder where the Father is in this.
  6. She could have spent 10 minutes checking what her situation is, quick post on VJ would have done it.
  7. There are acres of coverage, many Journalists have contributed but none of them seem to have been able to supply basic facts. Humanitarian Parole is supposed to be temporary, not sure if it applies for someone with clear immigrant intent, VAWA of course can be applied for from say NZ. She sent the 2 children home, allegedly for a holiday which implies they want to come back, how?
  8. Unusual for someone with Swedish Nationality to be in long AP. my money is on the Iranian aspect.
  9. Not retaliation, more a what do we do, just thinking the easiest way out would be a simple refusal. But it could also unstick it. Shame your Employer will not cover the cost, it is after all them who want you to go to the US.
  10. Not sure if a WoM would work on a NIV, after all they could just deny it instead. But on the other hand there seems no other option and if your Employer os willing toi pay, well might as well.
  11. There is no timeline for AP, 18 months does seem quite long even for Iran. Does your Employers Lawyer have any comment?
  12. If that was the case she would have a Green Card
  13. She had EAD had not received AP and left without any way of reentering Asked for Humanitarian Parole not sure on what basis.
  14. She she has told one section of the US Government she is single and the other she is married.
  15. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/aug/14/father-of-new-zealand-woman-held-in-us-by-ice-along-with-six-year-old-son-voices-hope-for-release-ntwnfb https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/aug/13/new-zealand-woman-six-year-old-son-ice-detention-us-ntwnfb Guardian but little info https://www.the-independent.com/news/world/australasia/new-zealand-woman-detained-ice-immigration-b2806701.html Independent equally vague Hard to believe she was sponsored for this job, so on whatever basis she came I think it is reasonable to assume when she got her EAD (VAWA?) she switched to the job which of course would mean abandoning her old status. So lets say she did have a Visa related to her prior position, she was not seeking entry to do that job assuming the Visa was still valid. I am intrigued now, nothing I could see on BBC. Update did find one reference to VAWA but no clarification on how she entered. Lots of mention of Administrative Error but not what or by whom.
  16. I think the Lawyer came into it after she left assuming the tenses are right. But lack of detail is perhaps unsurprising.
  17. I assume Dad is back in NZ? Anyway Reporter clearly has no idea what a Visa is.
  18. It would be interesting toknow what the visa she thought she had is.
  19. I can not be certain but think the Lawyers came in after the event.
  20. Check and double check the documents are legit. They will be checked.
  21. I have not been to DC for sometime, remember being shocked that the central core was what you saw on the TV but outside of that, just a few blocks, well ouch.
  22. https://www.king5.com/article/news/local/washington-state-employee-young-son-detained-by-ice-canadian-border/281-a2c9f151-800a-4346-812a-14f13328b6da Sarah Shaw crossed into Canada mistakenly thinking she had the proper visa to return home to Everett. She and her 6-year-old son are now being held in Texas. I thought this was interesting, well an example of the usual standard of Journalism sic and the GoFundMe is amusing https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-sarah-and-isaacs-fight-for-freedom The story is contradictory as if her then husband had indeed sponsored her why would she be applying for a GC? And what Visa could she possibly have had had that was still valid 31/2 years later? The only one that fits would be the K3 but that seems highly unlikely. My money is her coming as a visitor with presumably 3 children, marrying, maybe filing to adjust, divorcing and then VAWA. She has EAD but not AP.
  23. You can certainly interview before the Consulate receives the medical. Happens
