Hi All,
My Fiance is flying in from Venezuela on Friday to LAX is his first time flying internationally
Have him hook up with English/Spanish speaking folks on the plane and ask if he can tag along with them in the customs line.
and I am a little nervous he doesn't speak any English , and my worry is when he has to go thru immigration. Has anybody had a similar experience that they can share with me ? I hear that the LAX International airport is very busy so I am preparing for a long wait.
I"m thinking with the close proximity to Mexico that many folks at LAX will also speak Spanish.
-
Can you elaborate? I thought it has no bearing.
My bad......typed slower than my brain was thinking.
It will have no affect on the K-1 petition.
-
but I got refused two days ago at LAX aThe refusal was based on me not being a bona fide visitor,
This will have affect on a K-1 petition.
I know it is a big issue and will probably result in a year ban,
At most, but maybe not.
but following a case here (Link:http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/466188-past-mental-health-and-drug-use-problems/),I decided to be proactive and obtain voluntary drug tests and assessments from psychologists, as well as letters from friends.
May help
My question here is, when I get to filing the DS-260, do I say yes to previous drug use and explain it was rare, recreational and I have established a remission and no to Have you ever violated, or engaged in a conspiracy to violate, any law relating to controlled substances? Does that sound right?
That would be the most truthful answer......and this is the only comment that the VJ TOS would allow us to make.

Getting all my evidence ready after receiving NOA2, but my bank is not cooperating with the letter required for the affidavit of support. I am applying with a cosponsor, who also has the same bank as me (so they likely won't get one either). Is the letter from the bank necessary in this situation? I've read I only need it if I'm using my assets to qualify, which I'm not, and that would also mean my cosponsor does not need to prove assets either. If the bank doesn't give it up, what can I do?
If your, or your cosponsor's, income is sufficient, then no bank anything is needed. I left all those sections blank.

1) Is it risky to take my doggy on my K1 flight - would having her when I land complicate the POE process for me?
No
Should she be sent beforehand or should she be sent to me in Houston after I've gotten there? Is there a recommended way to handle this?
My wife brought her dog when she first came over. Last year she brought back two puppies.
2) I am a little unclear about what they do when pets land - I think there should be a vet at the airport to check the paperwork, examine them and clear them? Also, with all the requirements met, I would like to be sure that no quarantine is necessary and I can take my dog home with me. (I ask because in Trinidad, quarantine seems to be mandatory when pets land, regardless of if all of their vaccination requirements are met or not. I hope this is not the case in the US).
They are "quarantined" at your US residence for 30 days. During this time you should have them examined by a local vet.
3) I understand that at the POE when you arrive on K1, it takes quite a while before exiting the terminal because they have to basically question you a little first and it can take 1-2 hours to wait to be seen by the authorities. This alone makes me nervous for my frightened doggy waiting unclaimed. United Airlines seems to have a good PetSmart program...I was wondering if anyone had any experience with them.
My wife travelled from Russia to the US and the overall time was 15 hours. I think they can make the trip from your country also.
At this point I am contemplating having my fiance come to Trinidad before the K1 trip to accompany us back to Houston, just so he could perhaps move ahead of me when we land to collect the doggy and keep her til I get out of the terminal.
Either or.
As a pet parent this entire thing is so scary - Im worried enough about my own process at POE so I would love to be put at ease about my pet's process at least! The flight over will be scary enough for her (and she can get skittish) so I am really trying to make the crossover as easy for us as possible. I would LOVE to hear from anyone who has experience bringing their pets over to the US on their K1 flight. Thanks!!
Many airlines will not ship certain dogs in the cargo hold. Many have weight/size restriction on what can be brought on board as carry on. Many will not ship in certain weather (hot months).

Read the Guides. Go to the applicable regional forum. Read the Embassy-specific info.

Hello,
My wife's AOS is currently pending approval from entry on a K1 visa. We had the bio-metrics last October, got the interview waiver notice a few months after that, and are now just waiting. If we move back to China now, how can she continue to obtain her green card?
It will be mailed to the US address that you listed on the 485 form. Maintaining the GC's validity requires permanent residence (min 6 months per year) in the US. Living outside would constitute abandonment of the GC.
Can we transfer the case to China?
USCIS is only in the US.
Also, what type of visa I can obtain for China?
Go to the Chinese version of VJ for that.
The other situation; once we obtain her green card here in the USA, what type of visa(s) are available to me to live and work in China?
Answered above.
-
That form should have more than just travel to the US.....it should also read to travel to the US and permanently reside there. Also I give consent for the child to return to "the home country" and then return again to the US.
-
It will be fine. Bring an updated form to the interview.
-
I thought only USCs can be sponsors?
-
Once we have been given an embassy interview date.
Can that date be changed or extended?
If yes, how is that done and are we taking a risk by doing that?
Email the Embassy and ask.

Asking this for a friend.
I know a couple that has met twice and intend to apply for K1.
He is in U.S and her in Russia. She applied for tourist visa B1 through an agency, they advised her not to say she has a boyfriend in U.S. and indicated on the application that she had a russian boyfriend. Under marital status, it
says common law marriage. When I learned of this, I became worried that this could be a problem when they apply for K1.
Thoughts, and advice?
Maybe, but having the Russian boyfriend is not a good sign for the USC petitioner.

- Also If I choose to visit her now, I will have a loss of 1 month salary and cost of Plane and living is around 2k
- International dating is expensive.
- Or should I call to State Department and fight a bit.
- With whom? The case is at the Embassy, not here in the States.
- Or should I ask my senator to expedite the process
- Can't
Please Please don't tell me how AP from South Asia is crazy long, each case is merited on its own etc etc..
No virtually all cases for this country experience long AP. You should have expected this.
.A friend's wife who requested at Embassy for speedy process was issued much faster so is there a way to ask embassy to do the same for me
AS you stated, each case is based on its own merit. Your merits long AP.

Hello everyone
I need some answers to clear my mind so I stop freaking out . we send our application on march 3rd and got our NOA1 on March 12th. We still waiting on our noa2 which am thinking should be here by now.
No way. Expect to wait 10 months for the NOA2 and be happy with 5.
So, I was going thru the copies am supposed to send my fiance and realized I made some simple error on the G-325A form .I realized i left a letter in my last name and also happened to spell american Amweican dont know how tat escaped me. will that call for RFE?
No
If yes at what time should I be expecting. Should I have gotten a letter in the mail already?.
No, it hasn't been at least 5 months yet, let alone 10.
-
Can you post a link on where you read that? You can always check uscis.gov to find out where to send it to
Read the 129f form instructions. There is only one location listed there. That is where you send your petition.
-
You can only file after you are free to marry. The date on the forms doesn't matter.
-
Waste - they will undo what you do and redo it their own way. Simple stack of papers is good.
Paper clips, binder clips and/or rubber bands.
-
I have read some of the posts and I see that many people receive a 1-year ban and treatment plan and then have to reapply.
Make plans for this scenario. If he gets a bye, then be very thankful.
-
3 hours should be fine. Usually it takes about 1 hour.
-
What do the instructions tell you?
-
I had already expected 1 month for NVC and 2 for interview...but not 5 or more for NOA2 based on estimated processing times and feedback here...that's the only thing that threw me off.
It will take whatever time it takes.
Work on the proof of your legitimate relationship. Your Embassy is hard for K-1s.
-
Much easier said than done
Plan for 10 months to get NOA2 and be happy with 5.
Then plan for 1 month with NVC and then another 2 months for the interview.
