  1. I just want to introduce myself in Philippine forum.

So, I moved to Canada when I was 10 years old. I am now 25 years old and very westernized. I have to practice my tagalog kasi meron akong english accent when I speak tagalog. Plus I speak Pangtaglish @ home. haha. (pangasinanse tagalog english). So does my parents when they are talking to us. I understand perfect tagalog. I just want to be able to speak it since I am moving to US with my hubby and wala akong mga filipino friends and family in the area. I never had any filipino friends since 16 yrs old. long story - it all involved gossiping and i hate chismiss. I only have 1 filipina friend b/c i met her when i first moved to canada & she is not into chismiss so i love her for that. haha. So bare with me. I hope there are others like me.

    So kumusta!

We are mabuti. :) Kumusta ka?

This is a good thread. My fiance is also learning basic Tagalog. He knows some Tagalog words and phrases already.

Good luck sa pag-aaral mo ng tagalog. :)

  2. So, too much excited to be with my man.. i got confused about baggage. I know i can have 2 free check-in baggage but here's where i got confused.. The allowed weight is 50lbs (23kgs).. is it for each baggage or for the two?

    LOL!!! Thank you. :)

Depends on the Airline. NW allows 2 free check-in baggage, 23 kgs each. Excess baggage is 50 USD.

My suitcases weighed 22 kg and 29 kg. I paid 2,200 pesos for excess fee. Not bad for bringing all those shoes and 'girlie' stuff. :)

  3. I have used Fed Ex 3-day Express delivery three different times to send packages from Seattle, Washington to Bacolod, Negros Occidental. The packages always arrived in my fiancée's hands on the third day. The cost has ranged from $40 (for a few documents) to $140 (our entire K-1 packet for my fiancée's interview).

It is my understanding that the quickest delivery by the USPS (I forgot what they call this type of delivery), is delivered to Manila by the USPS. Then it is delivered to the provinces by Fed Ex or DHL. This method of delivery sounds like it would be quick and reliable.

Any other method of delivery by the USPS will be sent by USPS only as far as Manila, then it will be delivered to it's final destination by the Philippine Post Office. As has been noted in previous posts, and has been my experience as well, the Philippine Post Office is slow and unreliable. I would never send anything important in this manner.

  4. I am also very much in favor of getting BOTH of your Senators involved, and your Congressman too. Send them ALL of your evidence. Make a strong case for yourselves, just like you would make a case to the USEM. Then, keep in touch with their offices. Email them every week and ask them for an update on your case. Don't give up! Be persistent! What the Embassy is doing to you is WRONG!

    Best wishes...

  5. what does really a white slips and blue slip stands for.. i got one during my interview that have a checked marked on Police clearance. although i submitted what they wanted additional document. I dont have a visa yet.

A white paper and a blue paper given to you after your interview are just the same. They are both checklists of the lacking documents you have to submit. The difference is that the white paper contains the Consul's signature, while the blue paper is where you will fill up your basic information.

I was given both and got my visa 3 working days after submitting the required document.

Tell your fiance to follow-up on your case and call the embassy at least 2x a week.

thanks for the tip, i was wondering how people organized their papers. i'm using accordion file folder now, but i was wondering if that will work when i get to the USEM.

I suggest using the Manila folder in organizing your documents. You can just write the label on the side of the folder itself.

  7. she doesnt want to give up ehr job...will take one year leave of absense instead. Wonders about all the people who want to come to USA but cant, yet she has to do nothing to get ehre... and? "I guess that is God's way".... hmmm. Doesnt want to start over. Cant understand why she accomplished so much in life so young only to have to give it all up. Waits until 25 days before coming here to tell me she made a promise to the nieces of the brother "she doesnt talk with" because he squandered ehr money she sent) yet made a promise to them to put them through school and college... yet we dont hardly have enough income for ourselves, and I am having to put off school for that now myself... I dont understand so much... I feel very stupid and gullible.

    Hi Brian,

Sorry to hear about this. I hope you will be able to resolve this issue with your wife before she travels to the US. Explain to her clearly your current financial status and maybe both of you can agree on a certain amount, one that will fit your budget, to send to her family monthly. I suggest that she should talk to her family in Philippines too and make them understand that it will take some time for her to get a job in the US for her to support them.

  8. So they take originals? Does that mean she should get multiple originals of NBI Clearance and Birth Certificates? Does the Embassy keep the originals too? I think she only has 1 NBI Clearance form...will she have to give that up at the embassy?

For parental permission is it OK if the lawyer only had her dad sign? Her mom isn't around.

I only submitted the photocopies of my NBI and Birth Cert when I had my seminar at PRISM. Just bring the original copies because they might want to look at them.

The USEM will take the original NBI copy.

  9. “Life is too short to spend your precious time trying to convince a person who wants to live in gloom and doom otherwise.

Give lifting that person your best shot, but don't hang around long enough for his or her bad attitude to pull you down. Instead, surround yourself with optimistic people.”

This childish war has been going on for almost 3 days now. Several threads were closed.

Don't you think it's time to stop and just ignore whoever is attacking you?

    Don't feed the haters anymore.

Come on guys, show some respect not only to other people but to yourselves too.

The way you post here is a reflection of your personality.

  10. I just knew He is the one for me. I never asked myself when I realized it.

It just happened. He has so many wonderful qualities.

Everyday I am grateful that we are finally together now.

    Better than I ever imagined.

  11. Famous? Maybe it simply means that people recognize poor behavior when they see it...and don't like it.
