  1. If the initial 3 day test is negative, still have to wait 60 days for the culture test. If that is also negative then all is good.

At some point your brother will have to cancel his November appointment. Why he wasn't told I don't know.

  2. In my opinion, the U.S. Embassy Manila really doesn't send out packets, unless you count the interview preparation instructions letter. However, it's wise not to wait for that letter because often it never arrives and, at best, it arrives very late. Besides, you can read the interview preparation instructions letter on the embassy's web site when you follow the directions in my other post.

Stick with scheduling the interview as soon as you get your MNL case number from the NVC because you'll save a lot of time.

  3. My understanding with CENOMAR, is cenomar of no marriage. Considering that we are married already and have sent them the Marriage of Certificate, can you guys help me?

The whole CENOMAR thing is confusing. You are correct in that a CENOMAR is for single people. However, since you are married, when you apply for a CENOMAR, the PSA will actually issue you "Form #5 - Advisory on Marriages" which shows that you and your wife are married. This document is sometimes referred to as a CEMAR. I think that name started on the old "Asawa" forum.
  4. Good news. CFO will be in Davao for CDO and GCP October 24 and 25 to conduct seminars, so my fiance will not have to travel to Cebu.

She is a school teacher and plans to file for an early retirement. However, her employer said the paperwork for retirement will take several months to complete. Her passport is expiring on May 22 2017. I think her passport was stamped in Manila when she went for her Visa interview at the consulate. If she applies for a new passport in Davao, will they stamp it as the same stamp used after the visa interview?

No worries. She will be able to keep the expired passport with the visa in it.

  5. By the way how much is the income needed to be above 125% my finacee is living all alone. We are in our process of getting this docs together as wll while waiting for oir Manila case number.

What is your household size? Do you have any children under 21? Is your fiancee bringing over any children? Any other dependents?

    Google the poverty guidelines.

  6. Here is something you can do:

    > Once the USCIS approves your petition, wait a couple of weeks or so and then start calling the National Visa Center (NVC) every day until they give you your MNL case number. Ignore their usual advice to call back in a month.

    > Once you have your MNL case number, you can pay the visa application fee, schedule an embassy interview, and complete the medical.

    > This is much quicker than waiting around for the embassy to notify your fiancee that she's eligible to schedule an interview.

Also, you and your fiancee can start reading up on the interview preparation instructions. To do so, go to the home page of the U.S. Embassy Manila web site and click on:

    1. Visas

    2. Immigrant Visas

    3. Fiance(e) Visa

    4. The Interview

    5. K1/K2 Applicant Interview Preparation Instructions

Lastly, nevermind those who think the VJ guides are going to answer all of your questions about dealing with a specific embassy. They don't.

  7. You are saying that if there is no missing docs or 221G that it is only one day in AP and that is simply not true. Please don't give information that is not accurate.

We were approved at interview, had no missing docs or 221G and were in AP for about 7 days. I have seen several other cases that went much longer than one day in AP that also were approvals with no missing documents or 221G.

There is no magic number, every case is a little different, so neither you or anyone else can really say with 100% certainty when a case will move from AP status to issued status.

  8. So my issue is that last year, I was in a masters program and worked part-time for half the year. According to my 2015 earnings, I broke through the 100% cut-off but not the 125% cut-off. However, after graduation I landed a full-time offer at the same place in April,2016 for $90k which is more than enough to cover 125%. Will there be any scrutiny over this as to my earning stability?

Can we do without the employer letter!!!? My fiancé works for his family business and they don't have company letterheads

Your questions may very well be embassy specific. My previous post is directed toward the U.S. Embassy Manila.
