  1. Yes...get your dental work done in 'pinas..you'll be glad you did...!

There's no need to bring a bunch of birth certificates. My wife brought only one and she still has it. If your birth certificate is needed for anything here in the U.S., they make a copy of it and return the original to you.

On the other hand, you're going to need more passport photos as you work your way through the rest of your visa journey.

Edit: For any professional job, your employer will want sealed transcripts from your college.

  2. You never know how long it will take for the embassy to complete a particular case. I would guess that your fiance should be receiving his visa packet within one month.

  3. Back when SLEC was sending the medical exam results to the U.S. Embassy Manila, the medical exam could be completed just two or three days before the interview and the results would be delivered to the embassy in time for the interview. The one-week recommendation was just a CYA tactic.

Also, some people completed their medical one day before the interview and were allowed to deliver their medical exam results to their interview. All they had to do is request it from SLEC. SLEC usually complied.

  4. No worries. Often times St. Lukes is the one who calls the embassy to reschedule interview appointments. You don't have to do anything.

Also, the embassy will automatically extend the I-129F petition for up to one year, so no worries there either.

Good luck with the sputum smears and the cultures...!

  5. The USCIS always pretends that it's the first time they have heard of any of these dating web sites, and they start playing the IMB game.

    1. You can email dateinasia and request that they email you the facts; that they are not an international marriage broker, and that they don't charge for their services.

    2. Print out their TOS/FAQ where they spell out those facts.

    3. Send everything to the USCIS.

    Everything will be fine.

  6. 1. A DS-160 is needed for each one.

    2. A visa application fee needs to be paid for each one.

    3. There won't be any fees at the embassy.

    4. The visa packet delivery fee is included in the visa application fee.

Best wishes for a smooth visa journey...!

  7. I believe the social security agent is incorrect. No surprise there.

Technically, she can get a social security number if she applies for it more than two weeks before her I-94 expires.

If she does not apply more than two weeks before her I-94 expires, then she will need to apply once she receives her EAD.

  8. Under normal circumstances, you should not have any problem completing the SLEC medical on Tuesday and interviewing on Thursday.

If SLEC tags you for sputum collection, the embassy will allow your interview to be delayed until you get a clean bill of health. The embassy doesn't charge you anything for that postponement.

If you had an annulment, or if you were a cutter, you will have to complete a psych evaluation which could screw up your scheduled interview. If this is the case, you could still go to your interview and plan on not getting approved until the embassy received your medical results.

  9. I'm an advocate of going in late also. That's what my wife, Chinook, did.

The only potential downside to going in late is that occasionally SLEC won't allow you in because they are too busy. That can happen any day of the week, but try it on a Thursday and you improve your chances.

  10. The Philippines government?

Your fiancee will need to attend the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) seminar. This is a requirement of the Philippines government. She won't be able to board her flight to the U.S. without a CFO stamp affixed to her passport

She can complete the seminar either before or after her embassy interview.

If she completes the seminar before her embassy interview, she will need to return to the CFO office once she receives her visa packet (passport) from the embassy and have a CFO stamp affixed to her passport.

If she completes the seminar after she receives her visa packet from the embassy, she can complete the seminar and get the CFO sticker affixed to her passport at the same time.

See the CFO web site for detials
