Potentially I want them to claim refugee status but first they will be on humanitarian parole. I google our local multicultural support center with free lawyers and will call tomorrow. We have huge population of Guatemala nationals in our area.
I understand that this is more so I hope someone will share their experience. I teach hundreds of students from Guatemala every year and they keep coming and staying and getting health benefits.
student visa is not practical so I am collecting info about asylum now, the brother is 18 so he can't attend the school I think but I ask in my high school just in case
I Googled asylum and it sounds likely to be approved under asylum since their government is dictatorship and make them work cutting rain forest to plant palm trees.
I know that some parole immigrants work with lawyers to stay legally but I really don't know how. The family is his parents which I know can stay after he is a citizen and a brother who may receive student visa later. I will google about renewal of parole but can they fly back to their country?
Parole was approved for my husband's family. I understand it is for 2 years. How can they stay legally after? The family is from Nicaragua. I am the sponsor.
