Him: 55 white US Citizen
Her: 31 Hispanic Colombian & now US citizen.
We married in Colombia November 2004 after knowing each other for 1 year. We had some trouble getting her US Visa as the embassy in Bogota wanted me to have a job making $20k in the US. However, the requirement for me to apply for her Visa in Bogota was that I had to be in Colombia for more than 6 months prior to applying. A catch 22 situation. I proved that I had more than $100,000 in the bank which would prove that I had sufficient income to support her. The officer was going to deny it until I asked to see the Ambassador. Finally the second time we went to the Embassy they gave her the Visa. We have now gone thru the entire process of Temporary Permanent Resident, changed status to Permanent Resident, bometrics, Naturalization application and luckily passed after the second interview. Lived in Calif and moved to Alabama and we are happy to have finished the process. Hopefully, we can encourage and help others become citizens.
