  1. Thanks, Brian! Unfortunately, it seems email is by far the best way to get in touch with the Naples consulate... It is very hard to get them on the phone, and in any case they would need to send me Packet 3 by email. At the end of August I spoke with Giovanni, another Italian guy who has just moved to the US, and he told me to contact them by email. I'll send them another today, and flood them with emails until they send me those papers. It seems they are nice people anyway, except for this slowness, and that the interview is little more than a formality.

    Raffaella,

you can download packet 3 from the consulate's website and then simply fax it back, since you know they have received your stuff. Here it is:

    http://italy.usembassy.gov/visa/immigrant/application.asp

You might wanna ask Marco&Shannon as well (they went through the process not too long ago)

Apparently this has been working well for people.

Then , fax out what they ask you to. In 3 weeks just call the 800 number to fix an appointment.

Apparently they dont really send out packet 3 or it gets lost along the way............

let me know if you'd like me to send you packet 3.

  2. I am bringing proofs of ties to home as well as papers stating that I am there to attend a business course and the NOA1 receipt from the K1, as well as my return ticket and everything but still I get concerned reading so much stuff about people getting expedite removal or banned entry that I do not understand the overall reasons for doing that. Does anyone have any more details on the reasons for one or the other option?

The last time I went to the US was in June for 5 days. I never had any problems, but I always worry since I read so many stories on this forum that I dont know what to think!

  3. Hey guys,

like some of you know and helped me out with this before, I am going to the US for business at the beginning of December for about 2 weeks. My company will be paying for my trip and my expenses. I am travelling under the VWP. I will have 2 weeks of work for the company (until dec 20) and then I plan to stay until the 27 ( since the company doesnt really care when my return trip is as long as it is not too far away) and spend Christmas with Kenny. So, on the VWP , the main purpose of my trip is still "Business", but clearly when asked I wont lie to them if they ask me if I am doing anything afterwards. I will say that since I am in the US for business I planned on staying one week longer and spend Crhistmas with my fiancee.

Is it correct and proper to write Business on the VWP form? or should I write both? I want to do everything right and not take any chance even if that means being paranoid!!

  4. You understood right, but you dont really ever "file" a K3 application, and your fiance wont just receive a "receipt" of the I-130. She petitions for you through I-130 and I-129F, and, when those are approved (which will take a while... 3-6 months as of today), the embassy in London will contact you in order to interview you for a K-3 visa (or a CR-1/Ir-1, even the I-130 petition is approved before the I-129F). You might want to look at these guides, they are really helpful:

    Guide for K-3 application

    or

    Guide CR-1/IR-1 application

The K-3 appears to be faster, the CR-1/IR-1 allows you to get a green card right away when you get to the US. Note that when you file for a K-3, youre also needed to file a I-130. So if that gets approved first, you might want to pursue the CR-1/IR-1 road.

I know there is a billion things you will be reading as you learn more about these processes.... but it is all worth it.

you might also want to consider NOT to get married right away and have your fiance just petition for a K-1 visa through the I-129F application... it is probably the fastest option although you guys would have to wait a few more months in order to get married. But since youre planning to get married in the US anyway, you might want to consider it too. here is the guide:

    Guide for a K-1 visa

If you're not sure and I have confused you even more :), you might wanna look here for a comparison between the possibilities you guys will have:

    Compare your options!!

    GOOD LUCK :)

  5. Hey,

so I have this question. Im not even sure im posting under the correct forum... feel free to move the topic wherever you think it belongs :)

My full first name is Maria Cristina, which is not that strange in Italy or Spanish speaking countries, but not that common in the US. All of my friends call me Cristina, but in the US whenever they see Maria first they call me Maria, and I just never recognized myself in that. So, for example in my US bank account (opened when I was a student), I went under Cristina Maria so people would just call me Cristina. Now I worry that because of this, this bank account (which is still open) will never be recognized as "mine" unless I change the name on it....I know this is really stupid, but I like my name, simply cant stand to be called just Maria. It either has to be Maria Cristina or just Cristina. Has anyone had problems with very long first names, or something like mine?

Curious to know how people dealt with it (I know, it's stupid!, but so long)

    Cristina
