Annie and I met at the University of Toronto in 2003, while working together at a student newspaper. I was the editor and she was one of my favourite writers. By June 2004 I was finished my degree, and had to move back home (about 30 minutes away in the suburbs). We continued dating and our relationship blossomed. During this period, I was able to visit her in Maine on several occasions. By 2006, I had worked/saved enough to move out again, and we found an apartment together in Downtown Toronto. She was fortunate enough to convert her student visa into a 1-year work visa, and further extended her work visa another year. Those 2 years we spent living together cemented our bond. Our long-time dream is to move to NYC together, and we took the first steps toward that goal this year. Her visa expired in May 2008, and she moved back home later that month. It was a tearful parting, but one that ultimately taught us that we should be together. When she returned to visit me in June 2008, we got engaged. By mid-July we sent our I-129F package. My K-1 Visa was approved in Montreal on March 19, 2009. I moved to NYC on April 24, 2009. We married at the NYC Clerk's Office in Manhattan on May 15, 2009. Submitted AOS in early June and it's almost finished processing as of July.
