Random Questions about K-1
Lemonslice replied to Keegan's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
If he wants to change the spelling of his legal first name [remove the second last name?], it might be easier/cleaner to do now, in his country. Then get a new passport in that name. About adding his name on the birth certificate, I know that is state dependent; you should see how that can be done while unmarried in your state. Best of luck to your family! -
RMV should word it differently, something like: "Evidence you presented make us believe that your authorized stay in the United States ends on 6/6/2024." RMV isn't the (best) place to get immigration status/information. You might want to try again in June, but you probably will have to find documents explicitly showing the details of your authorized stay/refer to their website to see what they'll accept. Also, hi neighbour. My first dealing with the RMV nearly had me packing my boxes and return home. Other visits were surprisingly smooth.

I don't think anyone here will google the entry requirements for each and every country you want to visit. Best of luck!

Each country has their own requirements; you can usually visit the country's website/their diplomatic mission's website to learn about entry requirements. For example, this is the information for Canada: https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/travel-voyage/inadmissibility-interdiction-eng.html You will need to look up for each country you want to visitl

Medical Exam in Canada (merged)
Lemonslice replied to Elderflower3623's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
Seasonal influenza vaccine is usually only required during flu season. Other vaccines depend on age. It's possible to request a waiver, it usually add about a year to the process. If you search the forums for vaccine waivers, you'll get more details on how to proceed/what's required. -
RFE help
Lemonslice replied to Milka:)'s topic in Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion
Will, living will, healthcare proxy? These are important documents, not just for immigration, but in life. Anyway you can move to an area with better employment opportunities? Google your state+career center if you feel your spouse needs extra help; getting settled and finding employment would also create additional pieces of evidence, in case he needs to refile... Best of luck to you two. -
Realistically, you are looking at years of separation (unless you are able to visit her long term while you wait), and tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees. I am not sure how serious things are with your fiancée, or how feasible/palatable the idea of living away from the US is for you two, but you might want to have serious discussions about all that together before going further.

Advice on Where to Start
Lemonslice replied to lesnicole's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
"suppose my fiance owns properties in South Africa, which he rents out as passive income. Is he expected to sell these properties in order to qualify for a work auth? " - then, it is an investment, and no, he is not expected to dispose of his investment (real estate, or otherwise). "There's not even any way to report these earnings to the IRS because it's literally none of their business." - The IRS will certainly be interested in your worldwide income and sources of revenue. You probably won't pay taxes, however, you do have to declare them. Same goes for assets abroad (google FBAR to get started). "I'm neither an economist or a lawyer but I am struggling to see the drawback to make this illegal. " - No one is saying it is the most logical law and rules, and in some ways rules from one entity will contradict rules from another, however as soon as you work and receive compensation/expect to receive future compensation, while physically in the USA, is where it gets darker grey, than simply "grey area". Best of luck to you and your family. -
It's slow because of the volume of applicants in Canada due to its proximity to the US. I don't see the delays improving in the near future. How long before you are eligible to become a Canadian citizen?

EAD cards for illegals
Lemonslice replied to JeanneAdil's topic in Current Events and Hot Social Topics
Refugees are following a legal path. Otherwise, they'd be underground, without requesting a status, or an EAD. -
Divorce help
Lemonslice replied to Underscore U.S.A's topic in Effects of Major Family Changes on Immigration Benefits
Where are you residing? You can file for divorce in that state. Not sure if you have any power in deciding which name she will use in the future. Might be a good idea to consult with an attorney to make sure you don't forget anything; might or might not be able to file on your own, depending on the situation, and how comfortable you are with paperwork. -
What happened after IR2 interview? how to travel when waiting for the passport?
Lemonslice replied to RYANR's topic in China
You can discuss this with the interviewing officer. Easiest might be to fly back to your residence, then mail the passport back to the consulate. Other option might be to stay in Guangzou until the visa is issued, however, in most consulates, that is no longer an option. What other documents are acceptable to travel? Anything else your son could get before the interview? -
AOS question

The superfast are outliers, you should expect the processing time to be somewhat longer than that. -
Which field/box is giving you trouble? I'll try it here and see if it is the form, or something on your side. Just tested with the example in your first message, and I had no problem. Just needed to check the box before the text field was active. https://ibb.co/HCZfwXF I have seen this kind of issue with people using mac/ipads.

Courier Selection big problem - where is DX?
Lemonslice replied to Dragonsarereal's topic in United Kingdom
It's ok if you don't have the barcode, just make sure to clearly identify yourself, and why you're sending the documents/who requested them.
