  1. No one but the embassy will be able to give you a definitive answer. Did you reach out to them?
  2. Will, living will, healthcare proxy? These are important documents, not just for immigration, but in life. Anyway you can move to an area with better employment opportunities? Google your state+career center if you feel your spouse needs extra help; getting settled and finding employment would also create additional pieces of evidence, in case he needs to refile... Best of luck to you two.
  3. Realistically, you are looking at years of separation (unless you are able to visit her long term while you wait), and tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees. I am not sure how serious things are with your fiancée, or how feasible/palatable the idea of living away from the US is for you two, but you might want to have serious discussions about all that together before going further.
  4. "suppose my fiance owns properties in South Africa, which he rents out as passive income. Is he expected to sell these properties in order to qualify for a work auth? " - then, it is an investment, and no, he is not expected to dispose of his investment (real estate, or otherwise). "There's not even any way to report these earnings to the IRS because it's literally none of their business." - The IRS will certainly be interested in your worldwide income and sources of revenue. You probably won't pay taxes, however, you do have to declare them. Same goes for assets abroad (google FBAR to get started). "I'm neither an economist or a lawyer but I am struggling to see the drawback to make this illegal. " - No one is saying it is the most logical law and rules, and in some ways rules from one entity will contradict rules from another, however as soon as you work and receive compensation/expect to receive future compensation, while physically in the USA, is where it gets darker grey, than simply "grey area". Best of luck to you and your family.
  5. Would be the easiest/cheapest thing to fake - $20 stamp and you're good to go. I've ordered "official" stamps and the verification process was... let's say minimal. Always bothered me.
  6. It's slow because of the volume of applicants in Canada due to its proximity to the US. I don't see the delays improving in the near future. How long before you are eligible to become a Canadian citizen?
  7. Refugees are following a legal path. Otherwise, they'd be underground, without requesting a status, or an EAD.
  8. That's why I prefer to keep it robot-level, plenty of romance, no immigration risk, just sadness when the server dies. https://www.businessinsider.com/soulmate-users-mourn-death-ai-chatbots-2023-10
  9. Where are you residing? You can file for divorce in that state. Not sure if you have any power in deciding which name she will use in the future. Might be a good idea to consult with an attorney to make sure you don't forget anything; might or might not be able to file on your own, depending on the situation, and how comfortable you are with paperwork.
  10. It's a relatively common occurrence, don't panic. Some locations are faster than others at treating files after the interview. You might want to search the forum for recent Paris experiences, to get a better idea. Bonne chance!
  11. You can discuss this with the interviewing officer. Easiest might be to fly back to your residence, then mail the passport back to the consulate. Other option might be to stay in Guangzou until the visa is issued, however, in most consulates, that is no longer an option. What other documents are acceptable to travel? Anything else your son could get before the interview?
  12. 5.1 autofills with what I type in 3.29 6.4 (see https://ibb.co/HCZfwXF) Can be filled after I check the box 6.20 autofills/totals with what I enter in 6.7, 6.10, 6.13 I suggest trying from a computer.
  13. The superfast are outliers, you should expect the processing time to be somewhat longer than that.
  14. Which field/box is giving you trouble? I'll try it here and see if it is the form, or something on your side. Just tested with the example in your first message, and I had no problem. Just needed to check the box before the text field was active. https://ibb.co/HCZfwXF I have seen this kind of issue with people using mac/ipads.
  15. In addition to the good advice already provided, your local library or community center might have English Talk Time, or a similar program, where she could practice her skills. In my town, they also do mock citizenship interviews. I am sure she will appreciate your support. Best of luck to you two!
  16. It's ok if you don't have the barcode, just make sure to clearly identify yourself, and why you're sending the documents/who requested them.
  17. The onus is on you to demonstrate to them the value of your assets, that they are liquid, etc. No 401k, IRA, anything else more traditional to show them? Otherwise, the joint sponsor solution is certainly the easiest solution.
  18. USCIS told them: who/how exactly? The call centre agent? They got a letter?
  19. I've provided similar screenshots for some of my evidence. Seemed to have been accepted, since I was approved.
  20. The document has been updated since 2017. https://www.cbp.gov/sites/default/files/assets/documents/2023-Nov/Carrier Information Guide ENGLISH.pdf Which documents did your permanent resident spouse present at boarding?
  21. Look at the ita matrix,or Skyscanner, to see the calendar of cheapest flights. Return tickets are usually cheaper than one-ways, but not always. Consider leaving/arriving at other airports in the area.
  22. Not sure which visa you're pursuing, but if it's family reunification, you might want to check if they could move to you/the requirements to do so. Best of luck.
  23. Read the first point: You are opposed to all vaccinations in any form– a waiver may not be granted if you only object to specific vaccinations;
  24. Remove all vaccines requirements? I don't see that ever happening. The list will evolve, depending on available vaccines/actively spread diseases. ETA: you can search vaccine waiver to read about others' experience. It seems to add about year to the process.
