  1. Yeah, it is. The "proper" process is to get it corrected at the local civil registry, who will then forward it onto the PSA. We plan on getting it fixed regardless, but it will take 2-4 months for them to process it. We didn't know if we'd get an RFE for one misspelling in one spot. All other documents are spelled correctly, and even elsewhere on the marriage certificate, it's spelled correctly. Just the one spot that's not correct. I'd rather play it safe and have all the documents correct from the very beginning, but I just didn't want a several month setback in the process either.
  2. Hello everyone, My wife and I got married in the Philippines and will be starting the IR-1 spouse visa process soon (I will be sponsoring my wife). We just received our marriage certificate, but we noticed that my wife's middle name is misspelled (missing one letter) in one spot. It's correct in what I'll call the biographical information (where it lists our birthday, citizenship, etc.). But, it's misspelled in the "certification of the contracting parties" paragraph, which is where we certify that we take each other to be husband and wife. Is this any cause for concern? We plan on getting it corrected regardless, but it will take a few months for them to process it. So we are wondering if the misspelling would cause any issues if we started the visa process now. Thank you!
