I have an approved I-140 and received the NVC welcome letter. My spouse was on my case but wanted to wait to immigrate to the US with me. On October 9, 2023, I requested that the NVC change her status to follow-to-join.
I received my appointment letter on January 30, 2025, after the NVC forwarded my case to the US Consulate. My appointment has been scheduled for March 21, 2025.
My spouse is ready to join me, but when I logged into CEAC, the payment link and DS-260 form were marked as N/A.
I sent an inquiry to NVC to add my spouse to my case, but they responded as below:
"The National Visa Center (NVC) is unable to assist you with your inquiry. Please direct your inquiry to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate processing your petition.
We forwarded your immigrant visa petition to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate on 30-JAN-2025."
I asked the Consulate to add my spouse to my case, but they requested the completed DS-260 form. I inquired about this issue with the Consulate via e-mail and phone, and they said that the issue was out of their jurisdiction.
Again, I contacted NVC to explain the response of the Consulate, but they replied with the same response as above.
I noticed that I should've communicated with NVC at least once a year to make sure my spouse's case remained active. However, there were some situations beyond our control to communicate.
I saw in the forum that logging into CEAC is enough to keep the case active (If this is the case). I had logged in to my account several times before receiving the appointment letter.
Now, I don't know how I can resolve this issue. Can anyone please tell me who else I can contact to help me?
If I attend my interview, will I make the case for my spouse more complicated?
Heartfully appreciate your assistance.
