  1. my friend has already booked a flight on monday and her flight time is at 8am going to USA. The problem is, she still doesn't have a CFO stamp. Is there any CFO stamp available at the airport? Or there is no way to get it but to go and attend the seminar?

    Thank you!

Ypur friend need to attend the seminar, they will attached that certificate on his/her passport. The PI immigration will hold him/her.It's kinda boring seminar but yeah everybody must attend.She/he got time they have open at 10:00am and 1:00pm....hurry up!good luck....

Yup. your friend needs to attend that seminar. The Immigration officer in the Philippines will look for that stamp. I did that on a Friday and there was a lady who also attended the seminar with tickets bound for the US the next day. Guess what? The counselors did not give her a certificate! Reason: Internet romance and everything happened so fast. Saw each other once or twice before filing K-1.

  2. Hi everyone! I just love visajourney as it makes my life easier by providing hindsight to my papers here in the USA.

I just wanted to gather feedback on the passport ammendment. The Philippine Embassy that caters of Filipinos in MA is in New York City. It would be a 6 hour drive from Boston and additional hotel accomodations if I should stay the night.

Is sending it through registered mail ok? It is the most logical thing to do if I dont have the luxury of time and funds to go to NYC. I am paranoid on letting go of my passport since it is the only legal document I have as of this time. I am currently on AOS and trying to get a driver's lisence as well. is this the best time to send it before travelling overseas? We might go to the Phils for the holidays.

  3. Thank you very much for the insights! You just don't know how anxious I am about my papers and the timelines on top of everything. How do I change my signature if I renew via e-file though?
They may ask you to do another Biometric.

I just got home and found a new sense of understanding of my papers by making an appointment at the USCIS through infopass. It is a free service and you can book an appointment online. There was no line when I went to the JFK building at the Government Center in Boston. My appointment was at 9:30am.

This what the lady at the desk told me.

    - I do not need to submit my EAD card when I renew it.

    - I can renew my EAD online.

    - I can renew the card 90 days prior its expiration date.

    - I can do my name change when I renew it-- I just need to attach necessary documents like my marriage certificate.

    - I will be requested for another biometrics appointment for the renewal thus I can use my new signature.

    - I can request the interviewer during my AOS interview to note the name change.

    - The signature during on the Green Card is not a "big deal" so I shouldn't fuss or be worried about it.

Based on the timeline, my AOS interview date will most probably come before my EAD expires. I hope everything will turn our well. :innocent:

  4. The biometrics would have been a good time to ask your name to be changed and for your new signature to show. But since that's done you will have to wait for your interview. You can try to request your Interviewing Officer to change your name on the GC.

If your GC gets approved without interview, you can submit an I-90 (and pay another fee) to have the name changed. Or you can wait until it's time to file for removal of conditions (2 yrs after GC approval minue 90 days) to have the name on your GC changed.

Thank you very much for the input!

My EAD also has my old signature... When I renew it, do I get a chance to go to USCIS and have it changed also?

  5. Is there anyone out there that can shed light to my predicament?

I am starting my life in the US and everything is so difficult since I changed my name after getting married. I filed for my AOS November 2007 and my application is still pending as of now, April 2008. I have called the USCIS hotline and they said to write them a letter of request for a name change. If this gets approved, how about my signature? I haven't gotten any invitation for an interview yet.

So there, I am having a hard time in getting a driver's license since I don't have enough "proof" for my "new" signature. I know the biometrics also covered my EAD since my card has my "old" signature in it. Please help! :crying::crying::crying:
