Congratulation! Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m so happy for you.
-
I think it is this one:
-
Thank you! The officer told us:" I need to put your case in AP and I am going to send you DS-5535 form to fill out." I'm not sure how to interpret that BTW, the DS-5535 form didn't include any questions about social media usernames. Apparently the general DS-5535 does ask for them.
-
We We have been here for a while, but unfortunately, Iranians are keep getting the DS-5535 form no matter how long they've lived in Canada.
-
This is what I understood from other Iranians who went through AP at the Montreal embassy. However, as others have mentioned, each case is different. I hope that ours gets cleared sooner but I don't think so. I know some people who have been waiting for 17 months now.
-
Thank you so much for your warm message I appreciate it. Yes, hopefully we will get there soon.
-
Thank you! Yes, we are both from Iran which I suppose is the main reason.

No, not really! She just asked for our updated resumes and we gave her them. Then she asked if we had filled out the DS-5535 form before or not. I know some applicants in this forum have received an email before their interview containing this form, but we didn't. When we said no we didn't, she said I am going to put your case in AP and you have to fill this form. She returned our passports and original documents. I have read a little bit since Friday and you are right, it takes 1-2 years for AP which is frustrating. About your last question, my husband was the main applicant and no he doesn't need a license to work in the US. His field is basically computer engineering.

Hi all, Yesterday we had our visa interview and the overall experience was similar to what most applicants go through. Everything went pretty smooth and both officers, the one who collected our documents and the one who did the interview were very friendly. During the interview, the officer asked for our updated resumes. At the end, she informed us that our case needs administrative processing and asked us to fill out the DS-5535 form which I assume is because of my country of birth. She also mentioned that for NIW cases, they usually expedite AP but I doubt about that. I’m not sure what is the average wait time for AP now, but it seems like we will have to wait longer.

That makes sense. I bet that must have been frustrating for her

Thank you! From what I understood, blood work is required for age <45 and urine sample is required only for age 18-24.
-
Same here! They didn't check our original vaccine records. I even asked to double check. Our appointment was at 8:30. The x-ray was pretty quick, but we had to wait for an hour or so for the blood work.
-
😂 this is weird. I had my medical exam with him too. Could be some age restrictions? Or country of birth? ( I can think of only these reasons)
-
I just had the chest X-ray. I did my medical exam in Toronto. Didn’t you have any blood work done?
-
Hi everyone, I have my medical exam today. The lab told me they no longer require urine samples, only blood work. Apparently it is a new rule. Has anyone else heard about this? I just want to make sure my medical exam is completed.

Hello, I just added your timeline to the spreadsheet. Just to confirm, your priority date is Nov, 2012?

Hi @JesusisLord24, I believe you have your interview today. I hope it goes really well for you. Please share your experience if you'd like to.

Thank you so much!

Hi all, I am preparing the required documents for my upcoming interview and just realized that I don't have the original translation of my birth certificate. Do you think it would be acceptable to have a new translation done and bring it along with a copy of the previous one?
-
Yeah! I think so. You might also want to keep an eye on consular updates.

Hi, no it's not a typo. My DQ date was January 11, 2024, but my interview is scheduled for March 21, 2025. I received my interview letter on January 31, 2025 - Almost a year later.
