  1. Thank you for your replies! I was informed that for opening bank accounts, especially with Chase Bank, a physical Social Security Card must be presented. Since I am in the process of forming an LLC in the U.S. and need bank accounts as well as credit cards for business purposes, the SSN card is essential for me.
  2. I am not allowed to open an account because I am a foreigner.
  3. Hello together, I am a German citizen who worked in the United States during 2013/14 under a work visa. As part of this visa, I was assigned a Social Security Number (SSN), which I used to open bank accounts and file tax returns. Unfortunately, I have lost my Social Security Card but still retain my SSN and continue to use my U.S. bank accounts. I would like to apply for a replacement card for my lost Social Security Card. I currently have a residential address in the United States but am physically present in Germany at the moment. I still possess my old passport, which documents the work visa I held during my time in the U.S. Additionally, I can provide my W-2 form from 2014, should it be required. The reason for my request is that I am in the process of forming a Limited Liability Company (LLC) in the United States and require my SSN for the following business and tax-related purposes: Applying for an Employer Identification Number (EIN) with the IRS Opening a business bank account in the U.S. Utilizing additional banking and tax services Filing a U.S. tax return for investment income I earned, which requires my SSN for proper reporting and compliance Many banks and institutions require a physical Social Security Card as proof of identity, making it essential for the successful establishment and operation of my business, as well as fulfilling my tax obligations related to my investment. Please note that I do not intend to use my SSN for any employment purposes in the United States. Its sole purpose will be for business and tax-related activities, as outlined above. I would greatly appreciate it if somebody could provide me with guidance on the fastest and most efficient way to apply for a replacement Social Security Card. If any additional documentation or proof is required, I am more than willing to provide it. Thank you very much in advance for your assistance.
